Every time I visit the Oregon coast this is my go to for fish n chips and it has never disappointed. The place is rustic for sure but don't let looks deceive you the food especially fish and chips are cooked in front of you and served hot and fresh.

This is not Michelin dining, nor is it fast food that you can get anywhere in the US on a road trip. We had been to the Oregon Aquarium and did not feel like cooking so we looked up carry out options & we were close to this place. It looks perfect from outside: the place is old, the signs are hand painted, there is a lot of color, there are a bunch of picnic tables, and the parking lot is gravel. It was getting crowded. We needed food for four and we got jumbo prawns and chips, halibut and chips, clam chowder, some kind of roll that was shrimp & cheese, and some cooked Dungeness crab with cocktail sauce. We had about a 15 minute drive to the house & we called ahead to get the oven turned on so we could reheat the chips and water boiling. Otherwise, we got all the main dishes out and went to work on the deck. This is well prepared good food that is best eaten outside on big table covered with newspaper. Added cold beer, corn on the cob, lots of hot sauce, ketchup for the chips, and some cheese cake from a farmers market for desert. It was a perfect summer meal on a perfect summer day with the sound of waves breaking on the beach about 300 feet away. If you go to this part of the Oregon coast you should try South Beach Grocery. The young woman at the counter was patient with our questions and the folks at the cooking stations were fast and capable with seafood that is not easy to cook but easy to mess up. There was no messing up at this roadhouse. They know what they are doing. Go here, eat here, and then go back and eat some more the next day. We did but two days later.

They have a small seating area that supplements the also-limited fast food/Fish Market's indoor seating you can get to through the interior open north wall, except there's a microwave on the grocery side if you want to nuke something. More idiosyncratic – in a good way – than your typical convenience store. Fish Market-logo hats, hoodies, sweatshirts & tees are on this side but watch out for the (apropos of what?) pro-gun messaging on some of them, if you're not into that.

Update: I love the little grocery store. It's open 24 hours. It's not very big. It's always clean. The gentleman that works the graveyard shift is super nice. I stopped in a time or two just because he's so nice and always makes me laugh. They have an awesome variety of beer and ciders. The also have some really good biscuits and gravey. There isn't a place that has better seafood in town. Not even Georgia's fish and chips are this good.

Stopped in for some snacks and beverages. Pretty nice selection of local beers and snacks. Connected to a very popular (line out the door) fish market/casual restaurant. We wanted to sample some seafood but decided the wait was a bit too long.

This is the biggest little country store in the county. Thank you for your contribution to those who live on the South side of the bridge.?
