I'm giving the 5 stars solely to the manager of the Oregon City branch. We've had problems with the bank itself and she was incredibly patient and helpful in solving one particular issue. She should be given a raise for her willingness to go above and beyond to make things right for us.

Rachael went above and beyond to get my account compatible with both the state of Washington and the state of Oregon. She was focused and determined in finding away to make my situation attainable. What I originally was told I couldn’t do, thanks to Rachael I’m now doing it and with a higher interest rate.

Wow. Service here is unwelcoming, so unfriendly, and invasive. I've been with KeyBank for over a decade and lately branch experiences have tanked in this area, but this was so bizarre I had to review it. I won't visit this one again. I can go into my other bank and it's a total 180. Step it up KeyBank.

Review update 8/8/22: KeyBank did just send me an unexpected check for $400 covering the original promotion amount. They have been reaching out since I wrote this post. I am updating my post to reflect their willingness to acknowledge my complaint and rectify the situation. I wish it had happened while I was at the branch in person, but I do appreciate them making this gesture. Thank you!Original review: I’m really disappointed with KeyBank and this branch. I received a promotion from them in the mail that would award me $400 for opening a new account with KeyBank after direct depositing $500 or more into the account within 60 days. I misread that promotion and thought I could “directly” deposit $500 in any fashion to fulfill this promotion. I tried to do so online, but online transfers wouldn’t work due to an unrelated bank error, so I called the bank and made an in-person appointment so I could work this out and talk about IRA consolidations and retirement investments, too. I met with the branch manager, and we had a long discussion about those topics. In the end, I told her I needed to deposit the rest of the money to the account to meet the promotion deadline, and she encouraged me to use my debit card at the counter to withdraw money from my other bank and deposit it directly into this account with the help of another bank clerk. Done! $600 more deposited, for a total of $1000. I even asked the clerk when I would be receiving the promotion money, which she said could take four months. Today, however, I call the branch because I didn’t get the promotion and am told online AND then by the branch manager that I didn’t complete the direct deposit and therefore didn’t qualify. There were so many opportunities for this bank to have told me IN-PERSON that I was misunderstanding the rules—I spoke with several people in order to make this deposit on time and to verify the promotion. I explicitly asked the woman who helped me at the counter how long it would take to receive the promotion since I was fulfilling the promotion requirements with that last in-person deposit, which I had assumed was “direct”. I need to be able to trust a bank to tell me if I’m misunderstanding their rules, especially if I’m there in-person and asking. Instead, while on the phone this last time, the branch manager responded to my issue by asking me why I hadn’t been doing anything with the account since I made the initial deposit. Did I need to? Is that a requirement, too? Is that the only way I’m valuable to you? Is this your regular level of customer service, to doubt my intention? I certainly HAD plans to use this account more, but I like to wait until I see a bank follow through with it’s agreements before I make what, to me, are large financial changes. How many of us have been burned by the “fine print” of promotions from financial institutions? Their reaction to this problem is what I was worried about experiencing, and is exactly what I was hoping to avoid by banking with a branch close to my home.I’ve been with my other bank for most of my life and I absolutely love them. They have all of KeyBanks’ features and more. However, they are not local, and I want to have an account with a bank that is local so I have more financial flexibility day-to-day. I also have more retirement benefits coming and need advice and guidance, and I’d prefer that to be in-person. This is obviously not the bank for that. I have closed my account and will find another local bank with better customer-relationship priorities.

Tried setting up and account online, got approved then was told 3 days later they wouldnt do business with me because of prior banking history, fine and dandy except I had a wire come through and now they want to charge me $20 for an Incoming wire when it’s supposed to be free. This is the third time I’ve been to the branch in two days wasting my time and now they can’t even close my account and give me my money cause there is a lock on the account so now I’m waiting even longer for them to try and figure it out. These people are crooks, I would not recommend key to anyone period. What a waste of time and money.

I've been a client of KeyBank for over 35 years, and have received very poor customer service the past few years. The tellers know nothing except how to take your money in a deposit. I had cash in my hand and wanted to open a new savings account, but no, I had to make an appointment (seems the manager is the only one able to open an account, and the manager always seems to be busy). So I went to U.S. Bank next door and immediately someone was there to help me and I opened an account within a few minutes. Very friendly, and knowledgeable, people work at U.S. Bank. I think I will be moving all my accounts to U.S. Bank very soon.

We have been doing business with Key bank for the last 15 years. We have had great service and excellent customer service with our mortgage and equity lines over the years. I highly recommend Key bank.

This bank is awesome. I will admit that if I didn't have veterans status to negate all fees that comes from being a US Bank member that I wouldn't bank with them, but they always take care of me. This branch also has a play area that my son loves to play in. I WOULDN'T USE THIS BANK IF YOU DON'T HAVE A LOOP HOLE TO AVOID THEIR FEES.
