7-Eleven is a convenient store located in a rough area, often surrounded by unhoused individuals and people begging. Despite the challenging environment, the staff are friendly, kind, and familiar with regular customers, greeting everyone like friends. They work hard to manage the daily and hourly problems, including theft and crime, and the store has heightened security with a locking door to protect employees. The store is typically clean and well-stocked, offering drinks, snacks, and cheap lunch options, making it a go-to spot for nearby workers. The family running the store are mostly great, though one employee may be grumpy during graveyard shifts. The staff are praised for managing difficult situations and are considered heroes, deserving of more recognition and perks. However, there are some inconveniences, such as the restriction on uploading money via cash apps after 6 pm and frequent sell-outs of popular items like blueberry parfaits. Overall, it is a resilient and friendly community staple amidst a tough environment.
I watched the guy behind the counter take a homeless person hurling racial slurs with absolute aplomb, just ignored them and got me checked out. These guys holding it down in the face of some real rough customers, I don't envy them.
