“This review is about ten years overdue. I bought my first ever turntable off eBay. A Setton TS-11. Now I don't remember what I paid for it but I bought it knowing it needed a new belt. At the time I lived about a half mile away. It wasn't far but it meant walking up and down a couple of hills. Oh yeah, I didn't own a car at the time. So I walked it over there and asked them to take a look at it for me. I knew next to nothing about turntables. I don't remember why exactly all the back and forth but I believe I carried that turntable between the shop and my home three times altogether. In the end, they got it working beautifully. In addition to fixing my turntable, they sold me an old radio shack mixer and helped me troubleshoot my audio setup at home. Both the turn table and mixer continue to work perfectly to this day. “Over the years I have had Stereo King do several projects for me. Before Christmas this year I contacted Anthony with an upgrade for our truck. I dropped it off the next day. I basically gave him a “budget” and an idea but free rein to do whatever. We tweaked our original plans to make it bigger and better . Corey did a phenomenal job! Anthony was so helpful for my non electronic self, stayed in contact the whole time. “2024: Well, it's NINE YEARS later since I wrote this review, and I just wanted to add that Green Century now accepts STYROFOAM IN ALL ITS FORMS!! It is practically impossible to find a recycling company that will accept all styrofoam, including those pesky peanuts! The worst part about buying a computer or television is the huge chunks of styrofoam that no one wants to take. Even if you were a jerk and put it in your trash can, it would fill the whole thing up 6 days before the garbage truck is scheduled to come back again. SO, now you know: Green Century Electronics takes STYROFOAM!! They also take every kind of electronic recycling known to mankind :)2015: Our medium sized downtown Portland business office had an urgent need to recycle a rather large amount of electronics - tapes, cds, hard drives, desk towers, monitors, old phones, etc. We got an immediate response from Green Century, and they were able to resolve the situation in a manner that was beyond our expectations. The director of services, Communications Specialist Heather Graham, was calm and collected as she proceeded to contact the driver and reschedule their entire day to accommodate our needs. Our order was cataloged, processed, and removed from the premises with such speed and professionalism - cannot say enough good things about this company's services!! Very economical as well!”

“I bought my first Nikon camera years ago and since then I have purchased many other items like lenses, flashes, filters and the like. Most of the time it was at one of The Shutterbug stores - first in Salem, once in Lincoln City (now closed, unfortunately), and most recently in Portland. When I decided to migrate to a mirrorless camera I was kind of nervous because it was a big step for me, and kind of expensive. When I finally decided what to get, Sean at the Portland store was instrumental in helping me make the purchase, but more importantly, he gave me lots of help to get started using it. It all went so well that virtually all of my business is now with The Shutterbug's Portland store. Each time I need some help or advice I stop by the store or call and chat with Sean. The best example I can share was about a year ago when we were driving through Portland, and I stopped by to ask about a compact tripod for travel. I had my eye on the new Peak Design tripod, which they carry and had in stock. Sean showed me an alternative product by ProMaster that I was unfamiliar with. After thinking it over, I decided to go with the ProMaster, even though it would have to be ordered. It turned out to be just exactly what I was looking for and I am very happy with it. I am so glad I stopped by and talked to Sean. I have also worked with Kyle and a few others in the Portland store. I have lots of confidence in their expertise, and I have never felt pressured to buy a more expensive product. They don't do "up-selling", like a lot of other stores. All in all, I'm very happy with the service I get from The Shutterbug. Whether you are a pro or a serious amateur (like me), or even a beginner, The Shutterbug is a great store for photographers.”
