Why in the world would they schedule our drop off for 3pm and you are CLOSED?!... no drop box. Sign says "return keys to office" but they closed at 1?... makes no sense. Such a hassle.

We had a reservation at 9am a few weekends ago and got a call after 8am the morning of, with the agent telling us that our car would not be ready until noon because "no drivers were available to bring the cars from the airport". This location closes at 5pm and we were planning to drive to the coast - there was no way we could make it back in time with this delay. The only solution he offered was to have us pick up the car from the airport itself. We asked if they would reimburse the Uber charge to the airport for us, and the answer was no. I'm just shocked that 1. We weren't notified about this change until less than an hour before pickup time, which completely messed up our travel plans (we weren't able to go to the coast at all during our trip, so incredibly disappointing), and 2. You couldn't even reimburse the Uber for us to the airport for Avis's mistake?We ended up going to the airport anyway, and the line was ridiculously long, at least 2 hours. They combined the Thrifty line with Avis and only 2 agents were working. Long story short we cancelled the car rental, left with no car for the weekend because everything else was booked out on such short notice, and wasted Ubers to and from the airport, not to mention losing hours dealing with this mess.To add insult to injury, Avis had reached out to me and asked me to email them with my experience so they could look into it. After a week of back and forth, they offered no solution and insisted that they had offered "suitable options" for our cancelled reservation, then redirected me to their customer service line instead (screenshot attached).. What a waste of my time and a joke of customer service, and the worst car rental service I have ever experienced. Never again.

Totally dissatisfied with the service and vehicle we received. We paid for a Full Size Vehicle and requested a Toyota Rav because of back issues and were given an Elantra Hyundai which was so uncomfortable !!! We were told there was not a Toyota Rav available which was untrue as the blonde lady behind us in the lineup drove away in one. I do not recommend this Budget Car Rental Company. Poor Customer Service and overpaid. Had to purchase a $60 Back Support. We have had a Toyota Rav and knew it was very comfortable and requested one for this reason.

My experience at the Downtown Portland location was excellent! Hoda (I hope I'm spelling that correctly) was so friendly and sweet. The service we received from pickup to drop off was efficient, professional, and pleasant!

This location is for both Avis and Budget. I reserved a car with the Budget side just in case they are separate offices. My experience at the Downtown Portland location was excellent! Hoda (I hope I'm spelling that correctly) was so friendly and sweet. The service we received from pickup to drop off was efficient, professional, and pleasant!

The car that was given to us was so dirty we had to go to the store and spend our own money on items to clean it. Employees at the downtown location don’t care and are not helpful. Would never recommend Budget to anyone. The enterprise downtown was pricier but probably better service. Our trip was amazing but all we said for 4 days was I can’t wait to get rid of this car it’s so gross.

Air conditioner did not work.Windshield wiper fluid was empty.Nearest location for vehicle exchange was 100 miles away when we discovered this. Apparently in Oregon they only have Portland locations.

Here is a warning that should not need to be said. If you create a reservation, and go to pickup your vehicle from said reservation. The agents with the poorest customer service will decide to create a brand new reservation for a much more expensive car, without warning you. If you are like me, you expect a higher price due to an authorization charge at pickup. This has not been the case for me after using budget 3 separate times. I have had to call the customer service line and receive a refund after waiting for the charge to lower, which it does not.

Don’t rent from Budget or Avis. You will immediately and retroactively regret it.If you need help with the vehicle while you’re renting it, don’t count on it. If you’re actually able to get a hold of someone they will very likely be entirely unhelpful.When I first returned the vehicle (with a full tank of gas) they tried to charge me an extra $20 the next day when I got my emailed receipt.I then received a letter more than three months after returning the vehicle that I rented, stating that there was “ERO GLASS-CALIBRATION damage” and that they would be charging my card $255.00. I don’t even know where to begin with how incredibly unethical this company is.If you want to avoid the multiple headaches that come with renting a car through Budget/Avis, rent from Enterprise. I have zero affiliation with Enterprise, but rented from them recently and once in the past and it is astounding how much significantly better they are than Budget/Avis in every single way. It might be a little bit more expensive, but trust me, it’s worth it.

The downtown office had no cars, 15 people waiting, the guy just sitting behind the desk doing nothing. Everyone said they would help clean the cars. Finally another guy came and they both went to clean cars. Usually Budget is great but the downtown location not so much. Won't ever rent from here again. I will rent from the airport instead.

Excellent service by the young man behind the counter! Friendly staff at both pick-up and drop-off. There was a line first thing Sunday morning, but they moved through it expeditiously. Vehicle was easy to find and to return in the attached garage. Vehicle was pristine!

The employee Mahad deserves a promotion for how great he was with us. He went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and sort a great car for our long drive to San Francisco. Can't recommend enough.

I've had amazing experiences at the airport Budget rental spaces, however this location is horrible. The customer service was rude, unfriendly, and unhelpful. We asked for a Kia Rio, but got a Chevy Spark. We asked for a smaller car, but the Chevy Spark is not even close to the Rio and we had to sit with suitcases on our laps for four hours. We asked for a comparable car and they said they couldn't help us; basically a "too bad, so sad" moment. Additionally, as we drove the car it said it needs an oil change which added to our stress about driving this car. Take the time to go to the airport and rent because this location is disappointing.

When we arrived at the location the car type we ordered wasn't available so we were up graded to a truck (free upgrade). However, this truck must have been off road because it had terrible scratches over almost the whole car! It was also a bit dirty inside. Secondly, the customer service left much to be desired. The Representative was very unwelcoming. Lastly, we were charged over $100 to change the drop off to airport although the downtown location did not have after hour drop off.

I made a reservation for an SUV to be picked up at 10 a.m. after having to wait 30min for my car to be prepared what I received was a very dirty car compact sedan that was completely empty of fuel and washer fluid.
