Cloudforest is a charming and inviting cafe and shop in Portland, renowned for its high-quality, handcrafted chocolate products. Operated by a passionate team, the business is centered around bean-to-bar chocolate making, with chocolate roasted, ground, and crafted from cacao beans in-house. Visitors can enjoy a variety of hot chocolates, which are praised for being flavorful, not overly sweet or bitter, and perfectly balanced. The signature drinking chocolates are often accompanied by housemade marshmallows and chocolate-covered caramel sticks, both made on-site, adding to the rich tasting experience. The cafe features a bright, airy space with minimalist decor, including a pastel mural that creates a pleasant atmosphere for sipping warm beverages. The space is also home to antique chocolate-making machines, which are being restored and will eventually be visible through a portal window, offering an exciting glimpse into the craft of chocolate making. Despite being run by a small team of just two people, service remains friendly and attentive, though it may sometimes be slow. Customers appreciate the care and joy put into each cup, emphasizing the quality and craftsmanship behind the offerings. The menu includes seasonal options like nutty buttermilk hot chocolate and brown butter hot cocoa, which are highly recommended. Overall, Cloudforest is a hidden gem that combines excellent product quality, a cozy ambiance, and a dedication to the art of chocolate, making it a must-visit destination for chocolate lovers and those seeking a unique hot chocolate experience.
Very delicious drinking chocolate and coffee ice cream. Friendly service and a nice clean atmosphere. We bought a few of the chocolate sticks and they were a nice treat at home.
