“Always worth the stop. Kinokuniya is one of my favorite stationery stores. My city of S.F. has one & I always make sure to pop in whenever I'm in the neighborhood to see what's new. And if I'm visiting a city & find out they have one, I have to make a stop. This wasn't my first time at the Portland store, and it definitely won't be my last. You can find some incredible office supplies & stationery here, including items that have won Japanese awards. This stuff functions like nothing else you'll find at your standard American office supply store, that's for sure. It's well made, and it's obvious the people who design these things take pride in what they do. I always know I'm going to find a bunch of things I want to take home with me. It's like finding a good bookstore... you could easily lose track of time in there. The people are super friendly like many Trader Joe's staff, where they tell you what they like, make cute little comments on what you picked out, and offer to help if you haven't found what you came in for. They're happy, too. This time I was hoping to find a little 4x6 notebook (a ledger of sorts) w/ columns & rows. I've bought it before & usually grab two at a time, so I thought I'd pop in & see if the Portland store had it. They only had the larger size, so I'm guessing people love that little book as much as I do... it's obviously popular! I didn't find that, but I still left w/ other things of course. My youngest is an artist & she absolutely loves going there too. It's a store that always makes me (us!) happy.”

“What a wonderful shop! Heidi hand makes waxed canvas backpacks, purses and pouches. And all of the fabric designs are her own creations. They are very usable, very fun, constructed well, and so beautiful. I purchased a few pieces in the store before Christmas. But her stock was low. So I went to her Etsy shop and ordered what I needed. In a few weeks I got a message from her and had the option to have it shipped to me or to come back to her shop. Of course I went to the shop! It was so fun to look around and chat with Heidi. I recommend her bags. They are lovely, durable, and hold up to the wet weather so well.”

We got colorful scarves, dangles to put on our earrings (the silver with amber colored resin), and beautiful artistic metal bracelets and I got the pendant in the other picture which have me a beautiful starting point for a new necklace! Staff is friendly and helpful, plenty of return value to come back again and again.”
