“We stopped in to What's New furniture for the first time last week and were so impressed by the selection of furniture and the prices and the friendly people working there! We had been looking for a few new pieces of furniture and they had exactly what we were looking for. We ended up getting a beautiful teak dining table, midcentury walnut dining chairs, and a beautiful grey blue sofa. The employees were absolutely wonderful, kind, and helpful and we were able to take advantage of the Memorial Day sale (thank you!!!!)! Our furniture was delivered so quickly and efficiently. It was truly such a great experience! Highly recommend!!!! :D”

“I am not very good with plants or other living things so I went in there to check it out since I always pass by it and live very close. I had just done some spring cleaning and got rid of unused items so I had space. I wanted to reward myself so I walked into the store. The staff was super friendly and helpful so I ended up buying a bunch of stuff to put on my window sill. She gave lots of helpful hints. Please do check it out.”

“It's like a little museum! It's a great place for cautious naturalists, as sustainability is part of their mission statement. Prices are honestly not bad, and the selection is always changing. Also a great place for rare and carnivorous plants. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Either location is a Portland must-see, in my opinion!”

I recently asked to upgrade to a firmer foam, within the 100 day trial...was easy! Two minute call and it was sorted out. We love our bed and Coyuchi linen sheets. Also prices are very reasonable compared to other futon shops. Don’t listen to the bad reviews about not being able to put futon a together. It is sad to see you people leaving bad feedback for good business because they are unable to follow instructions and have 0 communication skills. Oh, and they feel somehow entitled too. Go get your rock soft futon from rock solid people. ???”

“The team at Brush and Trowel are very knowledgeable, kind and helpful. They are also almost unbelievably fast at completing and expediting orders. Being a contractor in Seattle, I have found I will get custom Plaster matches from them complete and In my hands faster than I can get custom paint matches at my local paint stores. “This place is rad. We bring all of our friends and family here when they come to visit. It's always one stop amongst the Portland weird and it feels like a staple to us and our circle at this point.
There is a lot of taxidermy and that may not be up everyone's alley, but even so there is plenty of art adjacent or diagonal to that space that you just are not aware of.
They have partnered up with several artists that they have in that shop that do incredibly interesting things with their displays. I'm being cautious not to give you much away and being intentionally vague.
They also have geodes you can buy and break, other minerals, plants, and other gifts.
I think it's a very special place to visit.”

“Working with Pistils was one of the best experiences we’ve ever had. My husband and I set out to do a mid-scale landscaping project and ended up stranded and in a law suit. Pistils stepped in and agreed to remedy the damage. Not only did they extremely skillfully and professionally right the wrong, but they managed to create something much more incredible, functional and beautiful than we could have managed. They were on site almost daily for about a year and we had not one bad interaction. In fact, they felt like good friends by the end. When we called attention to something, they were immediately attentive. Everything they did was with the utmost care, skill and craft. Cannot recommend more highly. This job became very large scale and expensive, and they not only saved our landscape but probably also our marriage! The wall below was all hand split and stacked.We love you Pistils!!”
“An absolute gem in downtown Portland. A giftshop with work from local artists and small businesses that is also a record label. You can listen to all the local artists before you buy any records and there are a few worth exploring. In addition, the staff gave me some really good advice about activities in and around Portland. I returned several times. Their location at the airport also has local microbrews at decent prices (that the dowtown location did not have).”
