Keller Auditorium is a historic and beautiful theater located in downtown Portland, offering a charming ambiance reminiscent of the Kennedy Center on a smaller scale. It hosts a variety of performances, including concerts and shows like Hamilton, attracting many visitors. The building’s interior and staff are generally appreciated; employees and ushers are friendly, helpful, and welcoming, making the experience more pleasant despite some challenges. However, the facility has notable issues. The layout is not ideal for large crowds, especially during entry and intermission, leading to long lines for bathrooms and concessions. The bathroom situation is particularly problematic, with limited stalls—especially on the top level—causing lengthy waits, which is difficult considering the time-consuming restroom routines for women. The small lobby becomes crowded quickly, making it uncomfortable to wait before shows. The elevators are slow, and the building's design does not seem to fully anticipate the needs of a large audience. Exiting after performances can be chaotic, with crowds spilling onto the sidewalk and street, raising safety concerns during emergencies. The auditorium’s seating is comfortable enough for long shows, and parking is convenient, with a reasonably priced garage nearby. Food and drinks tend to be overpriced, with limited options and long lines, which can diminish the overall experience. Entry lines for popular shows can be long, and the venue’s small size makes it difficult to manage large audiences effectively. Despite these issues, the theater's history and the quality of performances keep it a valued destination, though there is hope that future renovations will address these logistical challenges to improve the visitor experience.

It was our first time going so we were a little... read full comment

Good theater. Bathrooms need 10x more toilets and urinals.

The interior looks a bit old but still nice. I wish there could be a bit more space between the rows. The staff is very friendly and helpful.
