Safeway, located at 1030 SW Jefferson St, Portland, OR, offers a variety of grocery services designed for a convenient shopping experience. The store features a deli, bakery, fresh produce, and a pharmacy. Customers can find customizable cakes and party trays, along with a selection of fresh meat and seafood. Safeway also provides a pick-up service called Order Ahead for bakery orders and offers Grocery Delivery and DriveUp & Go™ for busy shoppers. However, recent reviews indicate mixed feelings about the store. While some appreciate the cleanliness and the variety offered, others express concerns about security measures, such as the requirement to leave bags at the entrance and the presence of a security guard. Some customers feel that these measures contribute to an unwelcoming atmosphere. Additionally, the restricted alcohol section and reduced hours to 10 PM have frustrated downtown residents. Despite these challenges, there are positive mentions of the staff, particularly a manager who provided exceptional customer service. Shoppers value the efforts of employees who create a welcoming environment amid the store's struggles. Prices are noted to be higher than average, but many customers acknowledge that Safeway is a vital presence in the area, often being the only grocery option nearby. Overall, Safeway continues to be a significant grocery destination, balancing convenience with ongoing challenges in the downtown environment.
This Safeway has gone downhill. The single entrance with a security guard gives off an unwelcoming vibe. The alcohol section is now restricted, and they’ve cut their hours to 10pm, which is tough for downtown residents.

Many times they don't have what you need. Lots of homeless right outside pan handling outside the door. Now we can't wear backpacks. My purse is a small backpack and they said that could be considered the same.
