Very impressed with the menu & staff. Clean place. We've been here before & apparently the place is under new owner or manager, but either way, this place has improved & we will be coming back

It's getting better. Place was trashed a few years ago. The new owners seem very committed to making it like it was 80 years ago.

This is an update. My original post was 4 years ago. In that time RFCC has gone through a significant decline and now is almost full recovery. Played recently. Greens are back to good condition. Fairways and tees are fine. Bunkers are being restored, most already restored. Some grades but not a typical western PA rollercoaster. Lots of trees. Good infrastructure. Nice clubhouse and grill room. I renewed my membership after letting it lapse a few years ago. Worth a try. Good to see it back in good shape.

Our group played River Forest this past weekend. We really enjoyed ourselves and will be back. We played in the past couple years and the new owners are definitely making improvements on the greens and fairways. I'm hopeful in the years to come this course will be back to the way it was many years ago. This course IS challenging. If you want an easy course, go elsewhere. We love the challenge! My only CON (and I'm hopeful in the future this will be worked on) is they need a starter. There were some really slow groups who were sharing clubs, etc, so a starter will be helpful pick up the pace of play. There were some holes we waited 10 min to tee off, but it was the weekend and we were patient. Keep up the good work new owners. We enjoyed the menu at Lily's also.

Never again. Course was in horrible condition minus the greens, the trees are overgrown on to the fairways to where you couldn't hit the ball at a normal height on about half of any given hole, the grass needed cut, the dining areas have not been updated since the 1990s, and the staff was pretentious. The golf carts were outdated and poorly maintained. During the banquet reception, the speakers' microphones kept going in and out. Nobody cared to step up and replace them. I was embarrassed for the club. It was sloppy. I would have been extremely mad had I paid to play that course. Luckily I didn't have to pay because it was a company sponsored event. Right now, I'd question playing this course again even if I got to play for free. I think I'll just stick with playing at my club and save the drive. The place needs new ownership and management. They just need to start from scratch.

OK course not well kept. BIG downside was making turn we stopped to grab food and drinks... tee off on 10 and was asked by an employee to stop playing ten and play the front 9. We told them we played the front 9 and turned. Then we were told there was a group behind us and to stop in the middle of playing 10 to stop and skip 10 go to 11 to let them play. Stinks to pay to be treated like this when you are a paying customer.

The course has improved immensely compared to the last 3 or 4 years. We had lunch after the round of golf and it was good. Our server Linda did a great job ?!

After what seemingly was gross mismanagement by the previous owners, the new owners are definitely righting the ship. They seem to care about the course, the atmosphere, the dining, and most importantly the customers. I was a member at River Forest years ago when it was a fantastic golf venue and let my membership lapse, but I’m thrilled to once again be a member with the new owners at the helm. Although they are not quite back to the lightning quick but receptive greens of the past, the greens are infinitely.better than last year, and will be even better next season. More and more activities and events are being scheduled and everyone should be able to find something to pique their interest. River Forest is a great place for a round of golf, lunch, and a cold beer, or for dinner with yours spouse and/or friends.

Greatly improved since last year. Really looks like the owner is trying to get the course back in shape. Greens are 100% better, fairways in pretty good shape, tee boxes still need some time and attention. But will say River Forest is back on track and is a GREAT value compared to other courses in the area.
