About Gettysburg Beyond the Battle Museum
The Gettysburg Beyond the Battle Museum tells the remarkable story of ordinary civilians and their extraordinary experiences before, during, and after the Civil War. This beautifully done museum, recently named "Best New Museum," emphasizes the civilian experience through twelve interactive galleries packed with over 1,000 rare artifacts. Its premier exhibit, Caught in the Crossfire, is an immersive and moving experience that places visitors inside a reconstructed farmhouse during the battle. The museum is very informative and enriching, revealing the civilian cost of war. Visitors will find a wealth of information and engaging exhibits, requiring a good amount of time to explore. The personnel are pleasant and knowledgeable, offering further education beyond the exhibits. The cost is reasonable, and the venue also provides event space. It is a highly recommended and amazing experience during any visit to Gettysburg.

Fantastic experience! My only complaint is, we visited on a day when there was several large groups of children. Made it difficult to get to some of the exhibits.

I as a local love this museum as well as the events they hold.
I recently had the pleasure to attend a short seminar given by Tim Smith whom I would highly recommend to anyone and everyone interested in Gettysburg history.

A really nice museum, with walk-through exhibits that go further than July 1863 (as the name suggests). Very well presented, accessible, interesting.
Still wondering if I was the first British visitor (October 2023)... maybe?
