“I happened to be in the area of the 3400 block of Sansom Street today in West Philadelphia and a familiar sign caught my eye from 22 years ago; Avril 50. Avril 50 was a regular stop in my patrol days and I loved walking into the shop. Always the wonderful aroma of brewing coffees and chocolate dancing with other exotic smells and the smells of fine papers and magazines. It always felt to me like stepping from West Philadelphia into a magical pocket of Europe. As it looked exactly the same, I wondered if anything had changed in the past 22 years and as soon as I crossed the threshold, I found that it was the same - like stepping back 22 years, yet somehow I was that much older. The proprietor was still there, still the same and looking no different - something that confirmed my belief that this was a magical and wonderful pocket paradise tucked away on a small West Philadelphia street. A brief catch-up chat, a shopping bag of fine teas and a perfectly brewed double-espresso to takeaway later; I stepped back into the bright Fall sun of West Philadelphia. I found myself smiling as I sipped the espresso, happy that one of the best things for me in that neighborhood has remained unchanged for others to enjoy and to continue to discover. It will not be another 22 years before I make my way back - that is for certain.”

“I stopped by here last night on my way home and I'm glad I did. I was able to find street parking across the street which was nice. The area is very busy so I can see parking being a challenge. The cigar selection is abundant and the service was great. They had trivia last night which was a ton of fun. Even if you don't smoke cigars, this is a cool spot to grab a drink and chat with friendly people.”

I needed to somehow get some vapes to my loved one as they’re no longer allowed to be shipped via any source. “I was driving back from WC and noticed the sign. I pulled in and saw the lights were out and by chance Prasad saw me in his cameras and opened his door. It was about closing time. He turned the lights on so I could get some beer. He had shut the systems (as anyone would do close to closing) so I said hey let’s do Venmo and we chatted while I brought it up on my phone and had some laughs. Truly an awesome guy. He could’ve easily said we’re closed and I would’ve been on my way. The store is huge and has a ton of domestic and foreign brews and booze. Give Prasad a shout if you see him. Solid man.”
“I stopped at the Pipe Rack during a work trip last summer. I was pleasantly surprised to find a great selection of hard to find or otherwise sold out pipe tobacco, like Carolina Red Flake, and at good prices. Dave was wonderfully accommodating and knowledgeable, particularly with recommending new (to me) tobaccos. He introduced me to the world of Mac Baren. I look forward to stopping here on my next trip to Philly!”
“They come through super clutch every time I've ever used them. I recently started using puffco products, and my atomizer broke. I knew they sold puffco rigs, but did not think they had all the accessories you need as well, and they were fully stocked!! I thought for sure it would have been more money to buy the puffco there than ordering online, but I highly regret not using them as they offer the same price as puffco and stand by their products! As a local, this is hugee!! Instead of waiting until the wknd to use my peak again, it's back in action better than ever with a new atomizer and dish at the best price possible. They have a wide selection of all e rigs and lots of other cool stuff! Best in the Roxborough/ manayunk area! Every time I go in, their employee gives me the run down on any new vape that he thinks I may like and will usually give me a discount on any vape I try that is new or different from my usual purchase. Usually if they introduce me to a new product that is more than I expected to spend and I only have exact change for what I originally intended to buy they will usually let me slide on a few bucks here and there. This is the only place that I will buy vapes, I've never had trouble with any vape I've purchased from them.”

“After being let down for the second time trying to see what the hype is over cheesesteaks in Philly, I ran across this cigar lounge where I met Ralph. He and the other guys who seemed to be regulars were extremely hospitable. After I purchased my cigars, I decided to sit down and lounge with them. I was offered a beer and we sat and talked for, at least, an hour while it rained cats and dogs outside. If I'm ever in the area, again, I have to stop through and pay Ralph a visit. For a place known for "brotherly love", this shop was the only place I can say I got that feeling. Awesome selection with a modest and intimate atmosphere.”

“I've had a change of heart about my initial review after a rather amusing encounter with the owner. So, I'm elevating my rating from a measly 1 star to a whopping 5. You see, I was all set to bash this guy for being overly uptight about parking, but turns out, he had every right to call me out. Apparently, my attempt to sneakily snag a spot was as transparent as a glass window in a fishbowl. The owner, bless his heart, kindly pointed out my less-than-honorable intentions, albeit with a touch of sarcasm. And here's the kicker: while I thought I was giving him a thumbs-up for his vigilance, he interpreted it as something completely different. Who knew hand gestures could be so misleading, right? It’s okay he has it on recording though. Anyway, despite my initial frustration, I've come to appreciate his dedication to maintaining order in his parking lot kingdom. Sure, it may seem like a trivial matter, but hey, we all have our passions in life. And for this guy, it just so happens to be cigars and parking. Who am I to judge? In fact, I bet if you pop by his shop, you might just find yourself entertained by a treasure trove of hilarious stories. So, even if cigars aren't your thing, it's worth stopping by for a chat. After all, where else can you find such a unique blend of cigar expertise and parking lot prowess?”
