Was just there for a business event which we have on frequent occasions. The food was not good to say the least! One bartender for over 100 people that like to drink ?. We had to wait for food to come out and between us and the organization we belong to we paid over $50pp. Overcooked steak that was not edible and chicken cacciatore that looked like beef. Besides that just a Cesar salad and rolls. We used to get appetizers also but that’s long gone!! Completely disappointed and will not pay to go to a business event again. Had to stop somewhere for an actual dinner.

Solid overall. View is great. Pictures make everything look quite a bit better than they actually are (rooms and restaurant), a bit worn down. Not as relaxing as expected, as the speakers for the bar are directly next to you if you’re staying above the communal area. Bonfire area is nice.

If you're looking a for modern Ritz or 4 Seasons this ain't for you. It's charming, relaxing, fabulous location and with stunning views, two pools, hot tub, 3 firepits with comfy chairs. Great staff, clean facility and we will return without a doubt! The Citrons....

VERY DISAPPOINTING STAY. We were really excited to visit The Poconos and intentionally chose what we thought was an "elevated" inn experience based on cost and images online. We booked through Expedia because the rate was slightly lower even though we usually book directly with hotels having worked in the Hospitality industry for 30+ years. We were assigned 2 unclean and dated/worn accommodations in the "Sunset View" bungalow, but decided not to complain until the noise from the swimming pool pumps (right under one of our rooms, Room #19) and the pool safety lights kept us up all night. We calmly asked to be relocated, were told there were no other rooms and then when we became less agreeable suddenly there was a lovely renovated room available to us. Our second accommodation - Room #20 - (we had 2 rooms for 4 guests) had stained carpet, a disgustingly stained box spring and a big patch of damage on the door among other ugliness. We asked that that room be changed as well but were told (again) there were no other available rooms. We later observed over the next 2 days of our stay that there was another lovely renovated room directly beneath the one we were successful in changing to from Room #19 that sat vacant instead of room-changing us as requested. That was the start of our visit and we soon discovered that the entire property was poorly maintained (cases of soda stored sloppily in outdoor areas visible to guests walking by, open top garbage cans all around, walls and doors requiring paint touch-ups, worn pathways that needed maintenance, Adirondack chairs that were dirty and left our clothing stained after sitting in them, etc). The property was also deeply understaffed and the staff that was available were sweet but untrained high school students (actually, some were sweet and some were rude). And one of the most frustrating shortcomings was that the weather was expected to be nice for 2 days and not nice on our last day so we were eager to use the swimming pool on the 2 nice days only to discover on BOTH mornings that the pool was off-limits until midday "due to an issue with the chlorine" which was basically because they added the chlorine while we were at breakfast around 9am and of course the levels were too high for people to swim if they didn't service the pools until the morning. The images featured on the website are completely deceiving. They are well-photographed scenes of the actual property but taken to glorify a tired and poorly-kept inn that has a great location but has not been maintained and should not be charging $450/night plus a $30 daily resort fee. 2 rooms x 3 nights (1 sleepless) x $450/night+taxes+fees = $3,000+ for a stay that warrants no better than a C grade. We probably won't be returning to The Poconos any time soon and certainly not to Silver Birches. **NOTE: I wasn't able to upload photos for some reason but I have numerous realistic images from our stay to share.

We went up to the Poconos for a quick two day get away trip and had heard about Silver Birches. Due to the price point and the fact that it is on the historic hotel registry that what we were getting would be a unique and quality experience. From the moment we first stepped on the property we noticed that things were in disrepair, not kept clean, not enough employees, etc. The room was large, however there were spiders in the corners, the carpet needs to be replaced, extremely old banged up furniture, a balcony with a broken umbrella stand on it, and the list could go on. The amenities around the property included a pool that was not very clean, broken umbrellas, tables that were not cleaned, and much more. We were excited that there were kayaks there for guest use initially, however they were not kept on proper stands and were filled with water from a storm the night before and kept in a disorganized fashion on the beach. Dry and clean pool towels were hard to come by and guests were told to go to the front desk. Their specialty drink they were advertising, they had run out of some of the ingredients. We had to pay a resort fee on top of the room fee and having been at other resorts before this did not match any of the quality we experience nor should we have paid a fee for. The final experience occurred at breakfast that was included was that it was not ready at 8am, there was one staff person trying to get everything out, and told us they were short staffed. The breakfast had a cold egg casserole, hard boiled eggs that had been overcooked, bread and jam that invited a huge number of bees to come and visit us at the tables. The entire experience was disappointing for what we envisioned for the amount of money we spent to be incredible and it was the complete opposite.

I loved staying at the silver birches house that I rented! The staff went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable! They have a shuttle that will take you to certain places, free of charge. The Dock restaurant and bar were great too! Cheryl and Michelle were awesome! Definitely check out the pool and rent a boat if you go! Can’t wait to go back!
Nearby activities: Boat rentals
Movie theaters
Food and drinks: The Dock restaurant was great!
Scranton is only 30 mins away

It was so very bad
Seeing the chipped paint at the entry way of a $300+ room is not acceptable
The musty smell was enough to not even spend one night
Please be honest and match your marketing to the disrepair. Seeing this told me everything I needed to know.
You are not being honest in the full representation of this property
You hide what is rundown and speak nothing of the loud music at the pool or crowded conditions in the parking area.
We are coming to a resort and this does not fall into that category

Great resort. We just loved it along with lots of other Hospitality Group properties that we visited on this trip.
Rooms: Great view from every room. Our room, L5, was very spacious and had windows on two sides.
Walkability: Compact and very walkable.

Understaffed. Bar tender could not maintain any attention to the bar. She had to cover the entire restaurant and provide service to the tables in the bar. There was no management oversight.

It was a wonderful surprise. If you are looking for pampering and luxuries treatment, Silver Birches won’t work for you. However, if you enjoy nature, authenticity, down-to-earth staff, beautiful scenes, you will like it here. The room is clean, right in the lake, there is bonfire, free kayak, canon, stand board to borrow. They did not advertise, but they actually give you free breakfast. It is simple but can save you time before you figure out your surroundings. A very good restaurant is 2 minutes of walking away. We had a wonderful time and will be back again.
