“When I first started my dress journey, Debbie hosted us at the dress matters for the mimosa/brunch for me to try on some initial dresses. It was a fun social event, great space, and also I appreciated the staff's guidance in trying to find what style did and didn't work for me. Great small business feel; very attentive and helpful. I used their seamstress Courtney for a wedding dress, jumpsuit, and evening gown. She focused on making sure the fit looked good while also ensuring I felt comfortable in wearing the dress. Excellent quality of work; she was professional, while also making this a fun experience. I'm definitely going to use her again for future dresses, highly recommend!”

She recommended alternations for me, including turning the back into a corset and it completely changed my view of the dress. I went from hating my dress to loving it! “It was nearing time to close when I knocked on the door of Optima Jewelers. My rings were too tight and I had been looking for someone to help. Rob answered the door, turned all the lights on, and took a look at my hand. I said I can come back when you have more time. He said no, it should come off. He so kindly took a tool and opened the band of the ring after spending a good amount of time sawing it open careful not to hurt me. Here's a guy who took 1/2 hour of his time, did not charge me a cent, and removed the offending rings. You can bet I will be having this kind jeweler, Ron Ly, do the repairs for the re-sizing. He kept the store open after closing to help me, who he did not know, and did not even ask my name. Who does this in this day and age?”

“6/24/2016 = My dream wedding dress was a family heirloom. It first belonged to my grandma (married in 1954), and was next worn by my mom (married in 1978). I loved this dress, and remarkably, it was in mint condition. But it didn’t fit, and it wasn’t flattering. Janice Martin Couture had gotten rave reviews, especially when it came to heirloom dresses, and it’s clear why. Her expertise is outstanding. She easily assessed my dress and my figure, listened to what I wanted, and arrived at the perfect redesign so that would get to wear the dress of my dreams. Beyond her expertise in design and alterations, Janice is a wonderfully warm human being, and the atmosphere she creates in her shop is so comfortable. We were a team in this project, discussing ideas and comparing looks. My headpiece, from my mother-in-law, was also redesigned by Janice. The original long veil was replaced with a birdcage veil, a perfect style match for my 1950’s dress. Everything looked AMAZING for my wedding day. Throughout the entire process, Janice was well organized and communication was on point. There were no hidden costs – everything was discussed and determined at the start (including the bag and steaming), so I could easily plan my budget. A dress designed or redesigned by Janice Martin is worth every penny.”

They had a nice selection to choose from and knew what options were best for my skin tone/hair color, and for the style I was looking for. They knew what designers could meet my time considerations, and what alterations would be available.
