“We worked with Michael, the owner of Scorpion Woodworking for a custom designed pair of walnut tables. He found a perfect slab for us and crafted the tables exactly as we hoped. He was a pleasure to work with. We also thought his prices were very fair for what we got”

“Steve was amazing. This was my first tattoo and he patiently worked with me to figure out what we would do. Then the process itself was quick, straightforward, and didn't hurt at all, almost. Plus the shop is very cool, with lots of great artworks hanging all over.”

“I highly recommend The Great Frame-Up in Wayne, PA. Pasha in particular is the best of the best. He has a very artistic eye for all aspects of framing - matting, framing materials, format and arrangement, glass, and all the rest - which really make your piece pop; his craftsmanship in completing the job is superb; and he is a real pleasure to work with. I have also done “frame it yourself” there, and the staff are very helpful, but I don’t know if they still offer that service.”

“NAB(Norristown Arts Building) is host to a number of contemporary artist. Highly skilled. Their once a year open house is a must for the area if you enjoy bleeding edge 2D artwork. Mixed media, drawing, painting can be found in all shapes and sizes. I would say most are post modern expressionist. Shows are regularly hung in the Pagus gallery on the second floor.”

“Wallingford Community Arts Center (WCAC) Recently attended a jazz concert here in the Duke Gallery. The room had nice acoustics and it was a really aesthetic place to enjoy music. Seating and parking is first-come, first-served. Free refreshments are offered, but a donation is suggested. People pool at the 1st floor bathrooms, but note that there are more on the upper floors with no waiting. Other experiences with WCAC? Took art classes here as young as 5yo. I actually remember them vividly, and got a lot out of them. The projects were pretty advanced for such a young age group, so parents got their money's worth. Many years later, took a ceramics class with local potter, Bob Dean (sells great stuff at Earth & State in Media). I made 150 pinch pots with holly leaf impressions, for my wedding. I remember a very kindly female pottery teacher was always working the kiln, and was really caring and helpful about making sure everyone's piece was handled with care. I think I had one piece crack out of like 200 fired, and it was no fault of hers. I thought I had signed up for a class, but it turned out to be more just studio time. At the time I took ceramics, there was a clique of middle-aged women who regularly signed up for everything, and kind of dominated activities, and commandeered conversation in the work room. My instructor didn't do much to involve everyone. He just stole our clay. Ah, but he made beautiful things with it! Overall, positive experiences here. This place has a positive, creative energy, which is exactly what you'd hope for from an arts center. Pendle Hill, the Quaker retreat/education center, is just across the street.”

“A hidden gem in Havertown. This place is for adult collectors. I wouldn't recommend bringing children here, it is not geared toward little kids, most items are vintage and behind glass. I loved my experience there, I haven't been there recently, (but I enjoyed it pre-covid). My only criticism would be the lack of pricing on most items. It can be annoying having to pick up individual items and then asking for the price, I like knowing how much things are as I shop. I would recommend a visit!”
