I returned my car to Payless in Philadelphia. I left my phone in the car and the shuttle bus turned around and notified them that I left it in the car. some on the shuttle offered to call my phone it was turned off. the manager said no one would take it. I tracked my phone to their location. DO NOT RENT FROM THEM

ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE!!! DO NOT COME HERE!! We booked a truck and then came in and they said they did not have our truck or reservation and all the front desk lady could say was “contact customer service” very rudely and was extremely unhelpful. I HAVE BEEN ON CALL WITH CUSTOMER SERVICE FOR 2 HOURS AND BEEN TRANSFERRED 9 TIMES THIS IS RIDICULOUS I JUST NEED A TRUCK AND THEY CANT EVEN DO THAT WHICH IS THEIR JOB. I warn you do not come to budget!!!

Terrible experience. They allow you to reserve vehicle but don't notify you that you need to have you own insurance (not insurance you purchased online for this individual trip) or get a years worth of insurance through them in order to rent a vehicle. Establishment is dirty and customer service is bad.

The worst: the car should have been retired a long time ago. Someone had chain smoked in it. Instead of shampooing the upholstery, they just soaked it in Fabreeze, which doubled the problem.I asked for a different car, but they told me there was no alternative. Now I smell like a smoker with dryer sheets in his pockets.No one was there to check me in when I returned the car.

How is this place in business!? Things were off to a baaad start when I waited nearly an hour for the shuttle to get me (and others) at the airport. Literally every other rental company's shuttles came through multiple times. Not Payless. I called twice and got some bullshit about how he was close. I guess we have different ideas of "close."Arrive to the counter and another customer informs those of us getting off the shuttle that there are no cars left. WHAT!? This is literally your one job. Literally the only thing you do. How do you not have cars!? I got lucky that they found a car that, I think, is being sold in two days. So long as I have it back in two days, I could have it. That worked with my plans, so I took it. Two other customers had the choice of a minivan or a pickup truck that they hauled out of God knows where. Everyone else...good luck to you. Once in my car, I found cigarette burns in the seat and they left me with only a 1/3 tank of gas. Not cool homies. I will never use Payless again.

Philly born and raised, daughter and I came home for the Holidays from out of state on a oneway flight with my wife joining us later...which posed an issue...Cornell could have taught a Master Class in customer service and the vehichle was clean and new (2022 Sentra).Great customer service and a great product equals a customer for life!!!Great Job!!!

A car rental company whose name proudly describes itself as a budget one does the opposite of instill confidence in me...but Payless ended up being a pleasant surprise! I called prior to picking up my car to have them confirm that they had a car ready for me per my reservation, and the first good sign was that they seemed confused why I would expect them to not have a car ready for me. The wait for the shuttle was a bit long, but they picked up and gave me an update when I called to find out where the shuttle was.The pick up and drop off process was super smooth and efficient. I had a question that they answered clearly. The car they gave me was in good condition with no issues. After dropping the car off, they initiated the return of my deposit money on the same day.Overall, really good experience!

I would go out of my way to never rent from this car company again. A group of us had to wait almost 40 minutes for a shuttle from the airport to the car rental location. Watched multiple shuttles for all the other rental companies come and go. When I finally called them, I got a very rude woman who said the shuttle would be there "any minute." It finally arrived about 15 minutes later. The representative asked me if I was staying in the PA/NJ area, and I said yes, I was going to New Jersey. She never warned me that I would either need an EZ pass or cash for tolls. So when I was driving up to the first toll and had to make that choice, they basically left me no choice but to break the law and go through EZ pass because I didn't have cash (who has cash anymore?? lol). I was really uneasy about this and had to do it several times. It turns out they just bill my credit card, but this would have been lovely to know upfront. I doubt, had I been pulled over, that the state trooper would have been as understanding. The actual building is nowhere near the airport--it's not even near the other off-site car rental places. And bringing the car back was concerning because I had to stop and get gas by myself and this is NOT a safe neighborhood. When I brought the car back, we had to witness the customer service rep and the shuttle driver get into it over the walkie-talkies because he was telling her he needed gas, and she told him no, he needed to take us to the airport. Now, I wanted to get to the airport quickly just like anyone else, but I was not interested in running out of gas. Luckily we made it, but the whole thing was awkward and a bit unnerving not knowing if we would make it. All in all, the worst car-rental experience I have ever had.

This is an amazing place to rent cars!!! Teddy and Michael Marconi have made me a happy renter for many years. They have come thru in many a clutch and even when they were oversold on the vehicle I wanted they kept me abreast of my options. Great prices , great service and even better great people!!!! I have rented cars vans and even cargo and 15passenger vans when they had them. Airport location, Northeast location does not matter this company and team should get 10 stars if I could give it to them. Give them a try and trust me you will not be disappointed!

I don't usually leave comments, but felt this was necessary. I don't understand all of the negative comments. I had a great experience. The car was clean and more than met my expectations. I would definitely rent from them again.

STAY AWAY!!!! THERE IS A REASON THEY ARE THE CHEAPEST OPTION IN THE CAR RENTAL APPS. BECAUSE THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE IS AWFUL. Unfortunately zero stars is not an option. I'm standing right now at the Philadelphia international airport. IT IS 11:06 am. I first called the Payless desk at 10:03. The woman who answered the phone was very pleasant and said oh you just missed the driver. She said he'll be back around in 10 or 15 minutes. At 10:22 I called and I said I just wanted to be sure I hadn't missed the driver. The gentleman who answered the phone said he had to go to departing flights and so he's going to loop back around and he'll be there in 10 or 15 minutes. At 10:58 I called and I said I've been standing here now a few minutes short of an hour are you purposely not picking me up? Hertz, Avis, Enterprise, Thrifty, Sixt shuttles have passed me at least 20 times in the past hour. And then he copped a BIG attitude. He said it takes time to go around- it's like a 20 minute circle. I said sir, I live here in Philadelphia it's not a 20 minute circle. He said well he had to come back to base and pick up more people and drop more people off and it's 20 minutes. So I said OK. I went on my app and found another rental car. And I'm waiting for the new rental car shuttle to pick me up. I would never EVER use this rental agency.

Rented a car from Payless Philly airport location and they had zero cars available when I arrived. There was about 15 people waiting for cars. The agents could care less and were very rude. When it was my turn, the agent said there was a $ 200 deposit that I was not told about beforehand and was not in a any " small print" they claimed I didn't read. I told them that it was as scam, which it was. I finally car a car that was filthy dirty, smelled like cigarettes and barely ran. This place sucks. Take your business elsewhere. On the plus side the shuttle drive was very nice
