Capitolo Playground is a well-maintained and popular outdoor space located in Passyunk Square. It features a playground, a basketball court, a splash pad, and a mini-soccer pitch, making it suitable for various activities. The recreation center has recently been renovated to include up-to-date amenities, with benches and shaded areas for visitors to relax. Nearby, there are community gardens and a large open field that also includes a baseball diamond. The playground is often busy, especially since it is surrounded by local businesses that keep the area bright and lively. While the park offers fun and recreation, some amenities like restrooms have limited hours and may be locked at times. The space holds interesting history, as the land used to be Lafayette Cemetery for about 100 years. Overall, it is a clean, vibrant, and family-friendly spot in the neighborhood.
Interesting history on this plot of land, this used to be Lafayette Cemetery for about 100 years. I wonder if they would find some of the bodies that were unaccounted for still underground. 🫣

Nice playground located across from Pat's and Geno's, with a basketball court. There is limited shade and the restrooms are only open after 1 pm. Unfortunately, they remained locked even after this hour, and there were instances of men sleeping on the benches.

This recreation center is super clean. We visited the playground while touring all of the amazing eateries along Passyunk Ave. Maranatha ✝️
