Wow. You know the scene in Pretty Woman where the salespeople are rude to Vivian? Yeah. Just like that. We did not have an appointment but stopped in to look at some tiles for our kitchen backsplash for our pied-a-terre in NY. We have been looking online at cle tile, etc. but since we happened to be driving by this store in Chestnut Hill, I thought we could see some tiles in person, and see if there was anything interesting we were missing. Salesperson was incredibly condescending and talked down to us, to the point where I became so uncomfortable we made an excuse and walked out abruptly. (I want to add this is just the one salesperson that was unpleasant. We did not interact with the others.)

I just had a great experience at Garden State Tile! I'm at the end of a lonnggg renovation project, and needed to make a quick decision regarding some shower and accent tiles, which needed to coordinate with floor/wall tile we had left over from a previous project. There are so many variables in color, shape, size, materials, etc, I just couldn't figure out what would bring everything together and make this bathroom the show piece that I wanted.

After the delivery issue the company called me apologized and refunded the delivery fee. They really care about the customers. Great!

We are doing a major renovation on our home and have dealt with many vendors. Jessica at Garden State has been our favorite thus far. Normally we don't sign on with the first vendor we meet for a product, but she won us over from the start. I was overwhelmed by their selection and did not know where to begin. She asked great questions to understand our scope and taste and listened well. Within minutes she had pulled samples that were exactly what we were thinking about. She offered great advice. She went out of her way to find exactly what we wanted when we had an idea that did not exist in the showroom. Everything was delivered on time and on budget and she remained a great resource as the project went into construction. I will never go anywhere else for tile. If you go there, definitely request an appointment with Jessica.

After going to 5 tile stores in the area, it seemed that Garden State was ahead of the game in terms of selection. I was looking for different shades of white and off white subway tile in glass or ceramic, but with a little flare. They had a lot I could choose from, and I went with a beautiful metallic pearl colored glass subway tile.

A business is only as good as the people it employs and Garden State Tile hit it out of the park the day that it hired Jessica Ogg. Our two projects were small but you would never know it from the level of service provided by Ms.Ogg. From the very beginning she never let us feel that we were imposing on her time and her patience as well as her taste are incredible. Of no less importance Jessica was always price sensitive and staying within our budget was easy. Kudos to Garden State for having the good sense to hire Jessica and kudos to Garden State for operating a first rate business..

I can only give 4 stars so far because it was my first day :) I went to the Philly showroom on a Saturday (no appointment) and Jen was kind and lovely to work with. I am very new to the whole process and she was patient and helpful. After about an hour, we had picked out the tile for both bathrooms, the kitchen backsplash and the basement floor. They have plenty of options in all price ranges. A wonderful experience. If you're looking for tile and want to see a lot of options- this is the place. They also have late hours on Thursday evenings by appointment only.

Maybe we just had bad luck. But would definitely NEVER recommend this place to anybody under any sort of a deadline. - First order was never placed (we still cannot seem to know why) - apparently you are supposed to pay in advance, but nobody told us, so they just never placed the order. - Second time ordering (1.5 weeks later, same order) - Nobody called us when the tiles (that we told them numerous time we needed ASAP so our contractor could start to work) actually arrived in the warehouse. Nobody really seems to be taking ownership or responsibility for what happened. - One location basically blaming the other. Yes, they are helpful when it comes to pick designs and figuring out quantities. I am just not so sure of their capacity to place the order on time and properly...

They have evening hours 2 nights a week and are open on Saturdays, which for someone who works 8-5, is extremely helpful. The tile I bought was a special order, and it came in a day earlier than expected, which was also a big plus. The staff is so nice, and they know their stuff. This will be the first place I visit for future tile projects.

I rolled into Garden State Tile on a Saturday afternoon without an appointment, and I was so pleased with my experience! Valerie showed me in and offered to help me on the spot. We chatted for a while about what I was looking for and what my budget was. She spent probably an hour with me, offering options and price quotes, not to mention creating her own designs for the backsplash based on the photos of my kitchen I showed her. I came away from the store with FREE samples (with my credit card # held just in case I make a run for it!) and a written out quote with everything we discussed. I was so, so happy with Garden State Tile and I don't know when I'll tile anything again, but the second I do, I'm going here!

If you're looking for well-priced tile, knowledgable and friendly staff and an all-around enjoyable experience trying to design a backsplash, look no further. With an impressive selection for such a small store front, you can find something at pretty much every price point, from ~$5 per foot on up. Erin was supremely helpful - she clearly knows the inventory backwards and forwards - and it took her maybe three minutes to find exactly what we were looking for, exactly within our price range. If ever I need to tile anything again, I'll definitely be back.
