Best martial arts school in Philadelphia, hands down. This school produces great fighters competing in multiple organizations, including UFC.

I visit gyms pretty frequently and I must say this spot has everything anyone seeking a competitive environment should look for. Wide range of skill and sizes, very cordial and welcoming atmosphere for newcomers and they even have showers which tends to be pretty rare in my experience. I highly recommend this spot for anyone looking for a solid team of competitive folks.

I’m new to Philadelphia.I’ve trained Escrimas, Boxing, Kickboxing, kenpo. I’ve only trained a year in jiujitsu. I wanted to check out a few places before I join and meet the owners.I called this place first also went online to see the schedule. They had the best rates in comparison to other places. The class schedule would of allowed more training time for me. My bf and I showed up twice, it was closed. The third time we walked in and no one talked to us. I went in alone when it was open. The instructor or whoever I spoke to was a total A******! Although they have 5 stars for training, better rates, more classes I couldn’t get past his arrogant machismo attitude. I had mentioned that I stopped by no one was there. I def didn’t mean it in a bad way. His response was,”We ain’t open all the time, I doubt you came by, do you even train?” I even brushed that off. As the conversation went on I knew it wasn’t the place for me. He obviously didn’t want my business not sure if it is that I’m a female. Luckily I found a place closer to home. First impressions are everything! Having come from a traditional Martial Arts Studios and trained with great Professors/Guros/Sifus I would rather pay more to train with someone polite and humble than this guy! Hopefully you have a better experience and first impression of this place and person! Maybe I caught him on an off day!

I just wanted to say THANK YOU! My son has been receiving Physical Therapy since he was 18months old. He has had the same PT teacher for the last 7yrs he has been in school (K-6). He has had to wear braces for his ankles/legs. He has had to ensure hours upon hours weekly of PT therapy to keep his legs & arms from “tightening” & basically becoming useless. Today I attended his IEP meeting at school. He is officially out of PT. After 10years!!! Aside from all the work he & his PT & myself have done. According to his PT he has made the most progress she has ever seen since September to now. He started Martinez in September. She strongly attributes his rapid progress & growth to BJJ and said she could always tell when he went to class the night before bc his legs & arms were “exactly how they needed to be”. I’m probably speaking jibberish to you, but in a nutshell….my son coming to Martinez saved his body basically! I’m forever grateful to the Martinez Team!

From new studentsto UFC fighters, this is simply one of the best places in the world to learn self defense. Will Martinez and his staff are patient, knowledgeable and genuinely care about EVERY student on the mats.

Great staff and family oriented people. Only down fall I would say is there was no limit to the amount of people in the small waiting/viewing area. On top of that all parents had to sign a blank paper agreeing not to sue if anyone gets Covid.

I'm over 50 years of age, and living with Multiple Myeloma. Martinez BJJ Fitness Center, is exactly that, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and fitness. At my age, finding an activity which pushes my body beyond its limit, while learning was a challenge; before I found Martinez BJJ.If you are of semi-advanced age, and would like to push your mind and body, visit Martinez BJJ in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
