Very quaint and cute books and records shop. Staff very friendly and super helpful. A variety of books, well organized. Books, music, and a cute little kitty to pet, all I need in a bookstore.

I love this place. It has a cat, and she is an absolute sweetheart. In addition to that, it has a great selection of books, records, movies, sheet music. I got a first edition of In Cold Blood for about $15. I could spend hours in here talking with Molly and her son. Great cookbook selection too!

One of the best bookstores and record stores in Philly! Was able to find a really old copy of Julia Child’s first cookbook!

Came here on a whim and was so happy I stopped by. Lovely space, incredible selection of books/records, and some of the fairest prices I’ve ever seen for used vinyl/books.I will be coming by every time I come to Philly.

I started collecting records after moving to Philadelphia, and I've been absolutely spoiled by Molly's being within walking distance of my home. The selection is modest in terms of volume, but they make sure that anything they have out is likely of substance to SOMEONE. This isn't some "we bought trash-tier LPs at some garage sales, interested?" affair. (You know the LPs I mean. Everyone had them in the past and nobody wants them in the present. They're tucked away for a buck or two maximum at good record stores, and they're proudly displayed for a higher price at bad record/vintage/etc stores.)For me, the size of the store means that you can confidently and completely browse what they have in one visit, without feeling overwhelmed or anxious. I personally greatly prefer that to a cavernous record store where I spend two hours flipping through bins and feel like I still might be missing something I'd want. They regularly have new arrivals, so stopping in every once in a while is always exciting and--far more often than not--I find something I want at a price that I don't need to scrutinize.I'd guess that Molly's uses Discogs as a reference for their pricing (it'd be strange if they didn't), but unlike some NJ record stores I've been to recently, the Molly's pricing model isn't bafflingly "Discogs median plus 50%". Instead, I find that they always price pretty close to the going market rate (imagine that), scaling down according to condition.Plus, the folks that work at Molly's have always been very friendly to me. Not "breathe down your neck and push you into a sale" "friendly", but welcoming and happy to talk as much or as little as you want to.There are two other South Philly record stores that I adore on a similar level, but when it comes to popping in and browsing... literally no other record store I've been to anywhere comes close to Molly's. It's a completely pleasurable experience, even when you leave empty-handed (which, for me, isn't the norm).

One of the last of its kind. Love the combo of books and music, and the way shelves just keep going.

I honestly did not expect to see such a beautiful treasure chest hidden in the heart of the Italian market. A friend of mine who knows my obsession with used and rare books suggested this place, but since it had the word "records" in the title, I was reluctant to visit at first. I love records but I don't have the device to play them.Anyways one weekend me and my husband decided to go and it was a beautiful experience.First of all even though the place was old and small, it gave a gorgeous vintage vibe. You know, a cute kitty sleeping near the books on display, guys discussing Emile Zola loudly, the smell of fresh coffee. I immediately noticed what a wonderful place it is, because they had beautiful and vintage and most importantly affordable editions of my favorite books.I loved loved loved their selection and the entire experience. I even found a Sylvia Plath from the 60s that despite being old, was clearly an unread copy. Not just that, there was a folded piece of newspaper article about Plath from the 70s in there. Such a treasure for a Plath lover like me!I also got some Zola and May Sarton. We then took our books and walked to a nearby park, where we drank our italian coffee and read our books.A wonderful bookstore and also a great experience.

Molly's is a cute bookstore in the Italian market with a pretty good selection of books and records. And of course it has the cutest bookstore cat!

One of my favorite spots to get records in Philly. A big fan of the sweet store cat and the prices are pretty reasonable. This store contributed a lot of vinyls to our slowly growing collection and we appreciate the wide range of genres they sell! You know it's going to be a good day when you get to dig through the $1 bins out front. I've also picked up a few books here, they have tons to look through. The owners are pretty nice and they post on Instagram often.
