I signed up for an intro class for free, received a text 2 hours before class saying that I wasn't "valid" for a free class even though I've never been and to contact them if I wanted to continue to be booked in it. They charged me without me replying. Super fraudulent business practices, and they won't refund me now.

I’ve been a member at OTF University City for 2 years and this is one of the best group fitness classes I’ve ever taken. The coaches are great and supportive (and more importantly they have updated, energetic music playlists!). The front desk is friendly and the facility is always well maintained! I would definitely recommend this location for anyone in the area!

Love going to OTF, University City. Great coaches, support staff, and challenging workouts provide an incredible atmosphere to reach your fitness goals. Each month, the studio curates a variety of specialty workouts, benchmarks, and 90-minute classes, ensuring members stay engaged and motivated to continue their fitness journey.

The coach was ball of energy. Unfortunately, I couldn’t join as I move to different place but I would absolutely love to join if I live in Newport News.

Fun experience visiting this studio from Pittsburgh! Doesn't open until 30 before class which is totally fine but was a bit unexpected. It's a surcharge studio but there wasn't a clear reason for this, my treadmill tech was spotty and there weren't any iPads on the rowers. Studio was also abnormally hot. Unlike some other studios I've visited they didn't acknowledge first time visitors or those that finished their first class. Coach was great and the staff at the front desk was super friendly. Would definitely still return here in a pinch but may give other studios a try on my next trip to Philly, just to get more if I pay more

The understanding of the coaches for each person's physical and psychic situation is the biggest plus of the Orangetheory "philosophy". I've only participated twice thus far, but there's a real connection I feel there with the coaches. They push everyone, yes, but not to the point of even close to breaking. There's care for who you ARE, not what you can do at a given moment. This is so key to me, as I'm coming back after a long period of time away from any gym, athletic training or physical therapy. Everybody had an immediate understanding that I need to ratchet up, step-by-step, not jump in at some really high level. There's no odd comparison, and no sense of that going on, and for that I'm deeply grateful. I appreciate this---I can gauge for myself where I need to be starting in a given session, and where I want to go without feeling pressured. Excellent!

I always feel accomplished and more energized after an Orangetheory class. The classes challenge me to push myself a little each time and the coaches help me keep going with their encouragement. And I'm enjoying this location. The staff is really friendly, helpful and just has great energy! If I tried to do this on my own, it would not be the same or have the same results... Glad to be back after my 2+year break due to the pandemic!

I was totally skeptical when my friend dragged me to my first class but now I’m a believer! I love the consistent full body workout I get and the coaches are so supportive and motivating. I’m usually so lost at figuring out what I should be doing at the gym, so OTF really gives me the guidance and structure I needed. Highly recommend!

In general I believe the Orangetheory Fitness program works. I describe it to others as having a time share with a personal trainer. I couldn't afford a personal trainer all the time nor did I need them every time, but in a group class setting, it's great that the coach is there. They describe the workout to you; keep watch on the timing; give you alternatives to the exercises; correct your form; give you encouragement; and motivate you to improve by pushing you to walk at a steeper angle, run faster, row with more watts at a controlled stroke pace, lift with appropriate weights, and do body weight exercises with good form.Orangetheory Fitness - University City is my home gym. I have been a member since 2019 a couple months after they opened. I started with the Basic (4 class/month) program and over time upgraded to their Elite (8 class/month) program and now their Premier (unlimited) program. It is walkable from UPenn, Drexel, and Penn Medicine. It is my home gym because I go 3-5 times per week around my work schedule.I do have the option to go to other locations at no additional cost near my home when I want to go on a weekend or a day off from work. I have used my membership in other states at no additional cost. And I have been to locations internationally for a nominal drop in cost.I have met staff in many locations, but there is something to the group of people you see more often at your home gym. The OTF staff here are energizing. Greetings as you enter make you feel very welcome. Coaches are engaging in the studio. And the members support each other. I don't feel like I am competing with any other member in the studio. We're all here doing the same thing to the best of our ability and cheering each other on with smiles, fist bumps and at times applause. If you like group exercise in a lively environment, this is a place to try out. If you don't want to or know how to put together your own exercise program, this is a place to try out. If you are new, unsure and scared of exercise as I was, this is a place to try out. And if this review convinced you to come in, let them know I sent you.
