The Rocky Steps in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, offer more than just a physical ascent—they represent a unique intersection of history and pop culture. Made famous by the iconic training scenes in the Rocky movies, these steps have become a symbol of perseverance and achievement. Beyond their cinematic significance, the steps lead to the impressive Philadelphia Museum of Art, adding a historical and cultural layer to the experience. Climbing the Rocky Steps is not just a physical activity; it's a journey through both Philadelphia's past and its impact on popular culture. A visit here is a must for those seeking a blend of history, fitness, and cinematic nostalgia.

Running up the steps and taking a picture at the top is recommended :) …not many people were there when we went because of the rains, but we had a good time :)

Epic stop on your Philly vacation. Of course the steps, grounds and views are beautiful, but these steps of probably most know for the famous Rocky movie training montage scenes. We all had a blast taking turns running up the stairs, filming and singing the Rocky theme song. There is also a plaque in the ground of Rocky’s footprints, and a statue nearby. Great memories made here.

Out of all the museums we've visited throughout our travels, this one is definitely one of my favorites! We were lucky enough to visit during Bank of America "Museums on Us" weekend which gives BOA card holders free admission the first weekend of every month (regularly $30 per person). Your experience starts as soon as you approach the iconic Rocky steps just outside the stunning building. Yes, I was a bit winded by the time I got to the top, but we were greeted by two golden retriever pups splashing in the fountain, spreading joy to everyone in the area watching them, so that alone made the climb totally worth it.This museum is massive with 4 floors, a cafe, restaurant, and museum shops. Not quite as large as the MET, but still plenty to see over a few hours. They were setting up for a wedding in the Grand Stair Hall which I could tell was going to be just magical... what a dream! All of the architecture throughout the building is impeccable and as a total interior design n**** my favorite exhibit is the European Decorative Arts & Sculpture. It truly felt like you were strolling through mansions and homes from medieval Europe and the Renaissance. I loved the crown molding, detailed wood carved fireplaces, and crystal chandeliers. You'll also find American, East Asian, and European art throughout the museum as well as more modern & contemporary works, sculptures and installations, and photography. This museum truly has something for everyone! It looks they host some pretty cool events and have fun programming all year long, so this one place you'd definitely find me on the reg if I were a Philly local!

The Rocky Steps in Philadelphia deserve nothing less than a resounding 5-star review! These iconic steps, immortalized by the "Rocky" film series, hold a special place in the hearts of visitors and locals alike. Climbing the steps, just as Rocky Balboa did, is an exhilarating experience that's both physically rewarding and emotionally inspiring. The view from the top, overlooking the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the city skyline, is nothing short of breathtaking. Whether you're a film buff paying homage to a cinematic legend or someone seeking a unique workout with a view, the Rocky Steps offer an unmatched combination of pop culture, fitness, and awe-inspiring sights. Beyond the steps themselves, the surrounding area is vibrant and full of life, making it a perfect spot for photos and soaking in the atmosphere. The Rocky Steps are more than just a tourist attraction – they're a symbol of determination, aspiration, and the enduring spirit of Philadelphia. A definite must-visit, earning every one of those 5 stars!

Great Museum and artwork but they had a extremely loud group roller skating and playing music in the middle of the museum. You could hear the music in almost every room and was not able to enjoy the beautiful art as it should. Unheard of to organize such thing in such a high caliber museum.

On a quick layover in Philly, we went to check out the famous Rocky steps. It was a really cool experience despite all the heavy rain it was still an awesome experience. If you grew up like me watching the Rocky marathons every Fourth of July then take a few minutes to check out this location. There’s a beautiful view from the top of the steps, even with all the rain and clouds.

Yes, this is the museum whose steps were immortalized in the "Rocky" movies, and you can find plenty of folks milling about all day long for selfies. There's even a "Rocky" statue at the base of the steps, to the right as you look up towards the museum (yelp.com/biz/the-rocky-s… ).The museum itself, though, is world-class, and it's well worth venturing inside. Admission lasts for two days, and with good reason, because there's so much to cover that it's tough to see every gallery in one day unless you blaze through in machine-like fashion. Indeed, I spread my visit over two days so that I could see every single room, and a number of highlights popped out to me.Most visitors might dwell on galleries with familiar subject material, whether, say, American paintings, body armor, Pennsylvania furniture, or Impressionist masters. All of these are certifiably compelling, with plenty of folks pretending to look all sophisticated as they gaze at each work in an exaggeratedly contrived way. But there's so much more to see here, as the collection covers virtually the entire globe. There's a Japanese tea house, an Indian temple hall, and a Chinese palace hall, all of which are incredibly exquisite, yet which most folks blazed through because it went right over their heads, even with plenty of interpretive signage everywhere. So take the time to explore contemplatively. Just don't block others' views for the sake of intellectual pretenses. Bonus: the two-day admission also lets you in to the Rodin Museum nearby.

We arrived at 3:30pm on a Sunday and only had time to see half of one floor before they closed. What an impressive collection of art! They have managed to move entire rooms from Paris to Philadelphia. Complete with wall, doors, floors, and ceilings. Truly impressive! We were especially thrilled to see Picasso, Van Gogh, and Monet paintings up close. I think we'd need more like 4-5 hours to tour the entire museum. I definitely want to come back to see the rest. Children and teens 18 and under are free.

Although I didn’t have the opportunity to explore the Philadelphia Museum of Art from within, I had an incredibly memorable experience visiting its famous landmark—the Rocky Steps. Having watched the movie countless times, I felt a deep connection to this iconic location and was eager to see it in person. I must say, it did not disappoint!Climbing the steps leading up to the museum was an exhilarating and rewarding experience. It’s hard not to feel a surge of inspiration and motivation as you follow in the footsteps of Rocky Balboa. The feeling of accomplishment upon reaching the top is truly fulfilling. I’m glad I had the chance to partake in this cultural and cinematic pilgrimage. What awaited me at the summit was a breathtaking view of the city. The panoramic vista from above offered a fantastic perspective of Philadelphia’s skyline, giving me a sense of the city’s grandeur. It was an awe-inspiring sight that I will cherish in my memory. While my visit was focused on the Rocky Steps, it’s important to mention that the Philadelphia Museum of Art is renowned for its extensive collection of art and cultural treasures. I regret not having the chance to explore the exhibits, but I can imagine it would be a delightful experience for art enthusiasts. If you’re a fan of the Rocky movies or simply wish to soak in the stunning views of Philadelphia, a visit to the Rocky Steps at the Philadelphia Museum of Art is highly recommended. It’s an iconic symbol of the city and offers a unique blend of cinematic nostalgia, physical activity, and a stunning vantage point to appreciate the beauty of Philadelphia.

We all know the steps but did you know that on Fridays after 5pm it's pay what you can? There's also live music and adult beverages available with food?I'm not sure about the beverages and food on display every Friday but this past Friday they were on display and it was awesome. Did you know that the PMA has one of the seven Van Gogh Sunflowers painting on display? If I am correct, it's the only one in the United States. If I'm not right, let me know it the comments below. The PMA is a fabulous museum with its collection of impressionists, Indian art and Asian art. It's a must when visiting. I've attached some of the pairings and art we saw on our Friday night visit. I highly recommend to get your tickets online and follow all security protocols before entering. NOTE: There are three shops. Two belong to PMA and are located one level below the main floor. The third shop is a based upon the current exhibition. If you're at the Rocky memorial you might as well do the Rocky to Renoir jaunt. It's well worth it

Visited with a few friends, unfortunately closed on Wednesdays but took advantage of checking out the architecture and the surrounding area. Looking forward to coming back to enjoy the exhibits. The building is beautifully designed with a fountain at the top of the "Rocky Steps" on one side and the scenic view of the Schuylkill River on the other. With a statue of Rocky Balboa, the steps, and a world famous collection of art, makes for a must see tourist attraction.
