Ray's is a hidden gem, offering an amazing variety of top-grade coffees and teas. I have been waiting for 20 years to try 100 percent Jamaica Blue Mountain coffee and found my cup waiting for me at Ray's. The staff is kind and welcoming and the tea and coffee cups beautiful. I'm looking forward to returning again and again.

Small quiet cafe in china town. There are signs that say no cell phones but really they just don’t want you talking on the phone or web conferencing to keep the chill vibes. Most of the food is a bit pricey but the breakfast sandwich is cheap and worth it. They do have great coffee and tea. There is a fancy selection of coffees and teas for around $15 each which are definitely nice but not worth it on the regular.

Cozy and charming cafe/diner that serves creative coffee and tea and delicious, comfort Taiwanese cuisine. My boyfriend and I stopped by for brunch after seeing such great reviews on both Yelp and Google. We ordered the house special soup and were pleasantly surprised with how much veggies and various meats were provided. The broth was so soothing, especially on a cold day. The dish itself made me feel so cared for, as if it was made by my parents. We also ordered an iced coconut matcha latte. The matcha was strong and the drink itself was not too sweet, a perfect drink! Id love to come back to try their Taiwanese beef noodle soup and other drinks. Unfortunately, I didn't realize they were known for their siphon coffee. I wish I got to try that. Heads up, this is not a WFH/study cafe. They have signs to not use your laptop.

The owner suggested tawainese beef noodle soup and it was expensive $24 and the noodles were just resoaked in hot water. Not a good choice. The dumplings were good, lightly pan fried. It's more of a coffee shop than food for sure.

Are you a fan of coffee? Did this place catch your eye because of syphon coffee? Well, if it did, welcome to the club. However, let me warn you - you’re about to get SCAMMED with how expensive the cup of coffee is, and for what you get. I ordered a Colombian coffee, and the quality was subpar to say the least - the beans must have been old, and I am pretty sure they burned the beans because there was barely any notes to it despite being one of the lightest and brightest options there. Moreover, you spend $10 for a cup of coffee that gets served in a PAPER CUP. And that’s because if you don’t want to eat there, they will be doing whatever they can to get you out of there asap because it’s a small place, and it gets packed quickly. Besides service being terrible, there is indeed a worker who’s always screaming at the employees. Last, but not least, the paper cup is so bad that your coffee will taste like paper because they pour the coffee (which is overly hot by the way) into this low quality paper cup. As a coffee enthusiast, this might have been one of the most disappointing experiences I’ve had in a coffee shop - not even a chain like Starbucks or Dunkin would be as bad as this. And again, THEY WILL CHARGE YOU AT LEAST $10 ON A SUBPAR CUP OF COFFEE.

I desperately wish I could give the food specifically a million stars. It was made fresh with love, authenticity, and complimentary flavors. It was the perfect meal if you have a cold or are cold. You can see newsprint around the store of the awards several meals have gained because it is just that good. I would say it is in the pricier side, but the quality is unmatched. I mention a million stars for the food specifically, because the older woman who served us was such a sweetie pie, but I don't know if it is her son, who will completely run all the customers away, His mannerisms is off-putting, and make you uncomfortable. I guess there's a school bus stop in front of the restaurant and kid missed it and asked if the bus came, and the guy completely yelled and cussed the kid away. My boyfriend also went up to go look at how the drink was made (after the older woman said excitedly it was fine) to go and sit down and wait for the coffee and a rude tone. I see several other reviews mention a bad temper man it might be the same guy. The food is 100% worth, and i love the small mom/pop shop, family business style, but would be amazing if you can avoid the guy.

Cute small family-owned restaurant. The menu offers a good mix of options and we came mainly for the beef soup. This was super flavorful with big chunks of meat-definitely add the chili oil provided. Also went with chow fun: good size portion and the noodles were a lovely texture but the flavor was a bit lacking- recommend asking for more chili oil to add to this dish. Did not realize before coming but definitely agree with the other reviews that the dishes are all outrageously expensive. We would've probably considered adding dumplings but for Chinatown could not stomach the price for dumplings. Also would've considered getting coffee or tea but the minimum price was $10 which, again for the area, we couldn't do. This is the main reason for the 3/5 stars and probably wouldn't need to come back.

Great beef noodle soup! Great depth of beefy flavor to the broth. You can tell the broth takes a long time to make. Although you can't see the brisket in the photo (my bad), they give you very large pieces that are tender and delicious. Great noodles too. A little pricey for soup, but it's really a meal. Super nice lady/owner server.

This cafe is very homey and small. The sumiyaki is pretty expensive for a cup of coffee but it's because they use a syphon method to brew the coffee. It tasted very light and fragrant. The taiwanese noodles were delicious as well. It's rare to find a taiwanese place in philly.

This cute cafe caught my eye, so I decided to stop in for an early lunch. Their specials come with two sides, including a wide range of appetizers like house made egg rolls and more and drinks, coffee or tea. I got the Dumpling Sampler, a house made vegetable roll and their signature blend coffee, that they blend there themselves. The roll and dumplings came with house made dipping, dumpling and chili oil sauces. I usually don't use these, but they were so delicious I couldn't get enough! The coffee was delicious as well, and served in the most adorable cup on a tray with a cookie. The two people working there were so friendly and seemed to know almost everyone who stopped in while I was there. I 100000% recommend this place for a delicious bite or drink.

I am very conflicted about the experience. I was really excited to go there and it had been on my list for a while. Most of the food was really good, especially the dumpling. The tea and coffee were amazing. But. It was a very stressful meal, the owner (?) was constantly yelling at the staff. And at us. And at other customers. He kicked people out to get us a table even though we said we were fine waiting. The staff would get reprimanded in front of us for placing the plate wrong (I didn’t notice). All of that while he was recounting to his friends how he hooked up with someone the night before. The vibe was so off it was hard to enjoy the food. Food which is really pricey btw. No cup of coffee under $10. Just be warned.

*misogynistic and offensive manager*Want to give this place a higher rating bc it was truly one of the best cups of coffee I’ve ever had, but the service was so unpleasant. Witnessed the owner/manager make a bigoted comment about how people “don’t know how to speak English anymore” and that people who “aren’t from here” shouldn’t be allowed to tell him what to do. He then came to our table and apologized for the cramped nature of the restaurant, stating that he wanted to ask another table to swap with us but was worried that “those ladies” would give him a bad review. He went on to say several more misogynistic and offensive things about women and women having opinions. Extremely uncomfortable moment, followed by an insistence that Philadelphia has become “sketchy” and “unsafe.” Very sad that a popular institution is led by someone who goes against so many of Philly’s values. While the food (served by his mother and founder!) was good, I will not be returning.

A real treat! The Taiwanese Beef Noodle Soup was wonderful - the reason I went. Also tried Leek Boxes, which were akin to dumplings, but like unsealed ones. My companion had a vegetarian noodle dish which he said was made "the way they make it in Taiwan". We were both very happy. Tiny little place, but they make do. You can see the dumplings etc being made right there in the back of the dining area. We did not have coffee.
