There was a time I was pleased with Republic. Then covid happened and everything went into the toilet. First, the "walk in" hours changed to only be during regular working hours (i.e., close at 5 except on Fridays at 6, which still means getting there, if lucky, 5 minutes before close and then you really can't accomplish anything). The Saturday hours, unfortunately, also do not work (very limited, and there are other obligations on Saturday any other day of the week). DESPITE THIS, they have very limited access on their online banking to perform transactions that I have at every other bank. When I insisted on explanations, I got conflicting and confusing information. They said, even though it's a joint account, my husband wouldn't be able to cash out our CD that had matured because it was "only in my name" (THE ENTIRE ACCOUNT IS JOINT) and that it was a means to protect me from him getting money. So how was he protected if I was able to call them and open a CD for a large amount of money? Because if I'm the only one who can cash out money that apparently became mine alone, that would mean he wasn't "protected" from me taking money. Let me tell you - their customer service has an answer for everything, they will argue with you, they will dismiss your concerns, and I had the branch service person give me several versions/excuses and said they "do things right" at Republic, insinuating my other bank(s) are doing things in a shady manner (these institutions are much larger than Republic and have been around MUCH MUCH MUCH longer than Republic so I doubt that their practices are against financial institution regulations). The last straw was this morning when I called about some changes that weren't reflect in my online account -- the branch told the phone rep that "I WAS INFORMED OF ALL THIS ON SATURDAY." I was not. If I had been informed, why would I be calling??? And say I was and didn't retain the information - was it taking too much time to give me that information again? It's as if they think they are doing ME a favor by allowing me to bank with them. Also, last month they suddenly put my checking account into "dormant" status although I had it open for many years without any transactions. When I noticed that my account was missing on line, I called and was advised they sent me a letter. The letter was dated 1/17, they closed the account on 1/18. I got the letter 8 days later.

there should be an option that says this is the worst bank and not on any chart to get a rating the number of screw ups this bank makes would take three other banks combined. there is an arrogance and rudeness you can't find at Walmart. from the top to the bottom just nasty unprofessional if you want to get insulted go to the branch in West Berlin. I'm sure they get bonuses for being rude. there's a heavy set girl sitting there and seems to hat the world. she's nasty to everyone not specially any one person. she seems to be ordered to never smile and if you say hello don't wait for a reply. the Voorhees by Olive Garden they just don't have a clue. tried the one on 70 cherry hill thing she's the manager woooo she can snap and if she decides to cut you she gets deep. all 7 accounts being closed. shame on us putting up with this BS and now they cut back the hours they have a nerve being nasty

I was in there yesterday, and the tellers were rude. Poor customer experience. I use two other banks, not Republic ones, and on the rare occasion I need to go to their branches, everyone is extremely polite and engages in a friendly manner instead of being dismissive and behaving like you're a bother. On a side note, the security guard at this branch is always very nice. I wish the tellers would take a cue from him about behavior and communication with customers.

JALIL will lie to you. He used to work at 1818 Market Republic bank. Someone stole money from my account and nothing was done. JALIL lied and said that an investigation was going on but it was a lie. He is being investigated at the moment. I wouldn't trust this bank with my money. If you want to give money to thief's then this is the bank to go. 😀

I had previously posted a review about how awesome it was to have Commerce Bank rekindled through Republic Bank. ...that was until they arbitrarily closed my accounts. After reaching out to their Chief Retail Officer, the accounts were reopened, only for Security to override that decision again and close them once more. It seems that if you run a business that is not specifically in Philadelphia (but you are), they'll close your account. I've referred businesses that combined have $6millon in annual revenues for two of them to have the same issues. Good luck meeting your revenue goals! The staff at this branch are surly, they constantly have to call customer service because they don't know what they are doing, and all round, stay the heck away from them. They spout about how they love their customers, but the fact is, they don't. You're just another pawn in their game of chess!

Same perks that Commerce used to have, free checking, no fees ect. However it takes like five days for a check to clear!

I had an encounter with a manager at the 16th & Walnut Street branch where a transaction was attempting to get deducted from my account which would have overdrafted it. She contacted me and let me know that if I didn't want them paid, they wouldn't let the transactions complete. They did not complete and go through to my account, yet I still incurred overdraft fees. She said that she would submit paperwork to waive them but when I was trying to gain understanding of why the overdraft fee was there in the first place she hung up on me.When I called back, I was frustrated at that point and said that I was considering closing the account. When I talked to her a day or so later, I noticed the fees were not reversed and she advised me at that point that since I threatened to close my account, she wasn't submitting the request to reverse the overdraft charge. When I talked to her in person, she twisted up the series of events to make it as though I was the aggressor and rude all because I was trying to understand fully. She was weird and her Manager never returned my call.

After explaining the situation several times, the required paperwork was still processed incorrectly. The second time it occurred, they still processed the incorrect form. I have over ten years banking experience have worked for financial institutions and credit union. I also worked for Commerce bank and left after the horrible transition into TDBank. The Power of Red needs much more work until it is back.

Republic First Bank now known as Republic Bank do not educate on banking money. I invested half a million dollars to that bank. The bank was quick to take my money, cash the check but was not courteous enough to look out for my better interest. The bank also sent bogus certified checks to companies that I do business with using the online banking service. The stop payments were charged to my account online and even though there was stop payments the money is missing. The bank did not replace the funds back into the account even though no checks from the online services were cashed. Republic Bank is a bank that a person must pay close attention and watch that they don't take your money. An example of why the online banking system is a joke: I sent out a $20,000.00 payment and made a stop payment, I was charged for the stop payment, the check was sent out, the check could not be cashed but the $20,000.00 still has not been added to the account. When asked to speak to a manager about my accounts, the accounts were terminated and I was sent a check, not of the total of funds but what the bank thought to send. Even though I had a CD, the bank would not close it, they insisted I must close it in person. This was for inquiring what happened to my money. I still missing large amounts of money. Watch this bank closely!!!!!!!
