Great store for the neighborhood. You can get unique products there. Fresh vegetables and fruits. They have a smoothie stand and they make awesome smoothies. I found this gem and had to have it.

Since moving to the area a year ago, I have been looking for a quality grocery store. I found Grocery Outlet, it is clean and offers healthier brands for non-perishables. That being said, the produce at Grocery Outlet isn't the best. I drove by Riverwards one day and thought it was a farmer's market. I then came across the Instagram page and was ecstatic to see that it is walking distance from me. The produce at Riverwards is day and night difference to what you will find at any grocery store in the area. One scratch and the limes are releasing scents! The butternut squash was so soft and stayed in my fridge for a week without rotting. The non-perishables are a bit pricey but produce and dairy are reasonably priced here and has me sold! Oh! The avocados were perfect as well, prior to these avocadoes, I had to throw out 3 from the grocery store. Don't like wasting food and don't see that happening here! :)

Such a lovely selection of produce and gourmet pantry items. And the friendliest staff in the biz.

New to Philly I've been slowly finding my way around. Needed to grab some last minute items I forgot after a TJ's run and didn't want to venture too far in the rain. Found this via Yelp and while it was a bit tricky to find (where the sign is posted, isn't the actual street is on- enter from Bread St alley), I am so glad I did. The outdoor (facade) gives old firehouse structure vibe- beautiful brick in a wide open space. Out front, large pumpkins and a fall display gave it a farm feel. At first, it can easily appear be closed but to after three visits it's safe to say they keep the lights low. The space is beautifully arranged with a very diverse selection of products. Think indoor farmer's market. Produce is organic, fresh and bursting with flavors. You can grab artisan bouquets, fresh breads and baked goods, homestyle fresh guacamole and wines. I was pleasantly surprised to even find Jamaican products ( Ting). The variety satisfies a range of price points from mid- high. I'd say they were on average about $2-$4 higher than the aforementioned chain. The staff is pretty cordial and willing to assist. By my 3rd visit we were fully engaged in small talk and they were giving suggestions for rainy weather meals and other things that the area has to offer. Overall, I'm excited to have this gem within walking distance and I know I'm going to be there all the time. P.S. the visit inspired the perfect rainy seat meal: rosemary chicken and bow tie pasta with roasted fall veggies- a chef's kiss.

Small produce-grocery store located on a small alleyway type street typical of center city. Produce looked very colorful and fresh. Nice local spot for the neighborhood people.

Amazing place to come for specialty goods! Definitely cannot do a normal, full grocery shop here (it would be too expensive and the selection just isn’t conducive to that IMO), but to pop in for a treat such as locally baked goods (vegan and regular options), locally baked bread, herbs and local produce, to buy dry goods such as flour, sugar, etc in bulk, get something you can’t find anywhere else… this store is amazing! I will truly be sad to leave the area because it will mean I can no longer come in here for a stroll, to buy an amazing sourdough loaf, or to buy a great vegan cookie. 10/10.

I hate when places say they open at a certain time but often do not. It’s listed as opening at 8 am, but I have been there multiple mornings at 8 am and have waited for 5+ minutes past 8 and not a soul in sight. While I was waiting this morning, about 8 other people walked by and also tried to get into the store. If you are listed as opening as 8, your doors should be unlocked at 7:59.Also, I spent 18$ on flowers and they had ants all over them. Had to throw out.

Think of a Trader Joe's but with everything local. Terrific food and plants. They must treat the employees well because they always seem happy, and there are often nice pop ups right outside. The only negative is Bread Street is difficult to walk on since it's old historic cobblestone. If you're mobility is limited you might want to approach from Race Street.

So happy to have Riverwards Produce in Old City! Our entire team frequently visits and the staff is all helpful and incredibly friendly. Its a great spot to pick up a bite to eat for lunch and then pick up a few items to make dinner when you get home.

Always a great selection of everything from dry goods to unique seasonal produce. Love the juice bar here... I walk all the way from Fishtown just to get the Power lunch smoothie– it rocks! Long live Riverwards

Bored on a Weekday afternoon? time to pop and edible and go to riverwards! The selection of produce is lovely, as are all of the associates. I'm so happy that Riverwards opened right before I moved into Old City because it is truly one of the best spots in the city. The juice bar is so good and has certainly saved many residents from hangovers and illness alike. The chocolate selection is unreal, but I highly recommend the creme brulee bar. just trust me.
