The produce is good, and there's some nice boutique items, but all in all Riverwards is a posh-mart for people who don't bother (or need to) check the prices on things. A can of tuna here is 4.50. 70 cents at my other grocer. Hot sauce, 10 dollars, 3 at the other grocer. Exact same name brand. There's no excuse for this. You're not sourcing it more ethnically you're just overcharging people to an INSANE level. If you're not a spoiled rich kid, this isn't your grocer.

Oddly lacking in much variety of produce..no green onions or bean sprouts? I hear they don't treat their workers well, either.

I go to Riverwards almost daily for fresh veggies for the day. They have the best produce in the city. The staff is all so kind and accommodating. I always recommend trying to get there early-ish though because they usually run out of a lot by the end of the day!

I've been a loyal customer of Riverwood Market for quite some time, consistently impressed by the quality of their products and the charm of their establishment. It's with a heavy heart, however, that I share my recent experiences, which have left me quite disappointed. As a regular shopper, spending hundreds of dollars weekly, I was proud to carry the Riverwards bag. Unfortunately, my recent visits were marred by a recurring issue: the refusal of their staff to assist in packing my bag. This refusal has not only caused me inconvenience but also embarrassment as I struggled to manage my purchases alone. This repeated lack of assistance, despitemy loyalty and considerable spending have led me to a decision I never thought I'd make. I disposed of my Riverwards bag. It was a gesture that symbolized my disillusionment with a service that I once held in high regard.I write this review not out of spite but with the hope that it will serve as constructive feedback. I urge the management to instill a sense of kindness and appreciation for regular customers among the team. A small gesture like helping to pack bags can significantly enhance the shopping experience and reinforce customer loyalty.Thank you for taking the time to read my concerns. I look forward to seeing positive changes and hopefully returning to the warm, customer-focused atmosphere I once knew at Riverwood Market.

The produce is always fresh and reasonably priced. Other items are more expensive but it's conveniently located and reliable. Something i must complain about though is their unwillingness to bag your groceries for you or at least help. i regularly make grocery trips so naturally i'll find patterns. i don't know if i just assumed a standard that grocery clerks will bag for you like the other stores i visit like Giant, Wegmans, Trader Joe's. But it doesn't make sense to me that riverwards will not bag for you and it doesn't seem anybody questions it. These other grocery stores won't discriminate whether it's their bags or your bags. Riverwards is a more expensive version of TJ's but even TJ's employees will bag for you. When i was at wegman's an older woman proceeded to bag my groceries for me but i was like "no, let me bag them!" That's the only situation - old age/people with disabilities that i'll insist on bagging myself. But most of the employees at riverwards are young! They'll stand there and watch you bag your items while other people are waiting in line for check out. This isn't an Aldi or Grocery Outlet. The least they could do is use a little upper body strength to help. I'm in my 20s and am calling out my generation for its utter laziness. lol they might as well install all self-checkout counters.

It looks as if they have a good stock however, I didn't feel to comfortable shopping.. it's a lil small and it seems as if no one wanted to make room for me to look for my items.

New to Philly I’ve been slowly finding my way around. Needed to grab some last minute items I forgot after a TJ’s run and didn’t want to venture too far in the rain. Found this via Yelp and while it was a bit tricky to find (where the sign is posted, isn’t the actual street is on- enter from Bread St alley), I am so glad I did.The outdoor (facade) gives old firehouse structure vibe- beautiful brick in a wide open space. Out front, large pumpkins and a fall display gave it a farm feel. At first, it can easily appear be closed but to after three visits it’s safe to say they keep the lights low.The space is beautifully arranged with a very diverse selection of products. Think indoor farmer’s market. Produce is organic, fresh and bursting with flavors. You can grab artisan bouquets, fresh breads and baked goods, homestyle fresh guacamole and wines. I was pleasantly surprised to even find Jamaican products ( Ting). The variety satisfies a range of price points from mid- high. I’d say they were on average about $2-$4 higher than the aforementioned chain. The staff is pretty cordial and willing to assist. By my 3rd visit we were fully engaged in small talk and they were giving suggestions for rainy weather meals and other things that the area has to offer. Overall, I’m excited to have this gem within walking distance and I know I’m going to be there all the time.P.S. the visit inspired the perfect rainy seat meal: rosemary chicken and bow tie pasta with roasted fall veggies- a chef’s kiss.

Curated selection of foods offered at surprisingly reasonable prices. Riverwards has fresh, in-season produce and locally sourced items that will certainly meet anyones grocery needs. They have an enormous variety of artisinal chocolates, perfect for chocolate lovers. With so many great items to choose from, be prepared to leave here with more than you anticipated!

A employee ran three blocks to return my picture ID card after I had dropped it in the store. Thank you to her for going above and beyond her job and saving me from the nightmare of replacing the card.

I love shopping at Riverwards! They have wonderful produce and great locally sourced options, including cheeses, meats, and snacks. I love their drink selection too - excellent local kombuchas and other fun n/a options. It's always a clean and very pleasant environment, and the staff are all so nice.

We just moved to the neighborhood and it is awesome having a local grocer within short walking distance. Produce is reasonably priced and there is a decent amount of product variety. I was pleasantly surprised to see how many Asian ingredients Riverwards carried. You may pay a little more than Acme, but you save a lot in terms of convenience. Croissants are also half off after 5 pm, which is a nice after work treat :)
