Best studio for transformation. Valerie is not only an inspiration as a woman but as a teacher, dancer and performer. You will learn and grow

Val is absolutely the best. She teaches yoga with form that will totally make you stronger and stretchier, with no risk of injury. The flow is incredibly smooth, whether it's an intense class or a chill one (a question, btw, which is usually decided by the mood/desire of the students). She's also just a super nice, relaxed person. Only caveat is that you should like cats--she will remove Batman and Bella from the room upon request, but it's more fun to have them around. Oh, and it's useful to know that class always starts and runs late.

Beautiful space and Valerie is the best for allowing the classes we take to happen there. Recommend it for dance space

I have been going to Yoga classes her for 6+ years. Valerie is the best yoga instructor. She is extremely knowledgeable with the practice of yoga. Go to one of her classes....you won't be sorry.

I love and enjoyed Kiana the Dance Insturctor but the owner Valerie sucks. Very unprofessional and has a bad attitude. Her timeliness and responsiveness to her customer (me) was horrible. Had to use her venue because everyone else was booked up. Will never use or recommend! Will recommend Kiana for events outside of 1831!

Special Shout Out To Studio 1831. We held our Miss Fashion Week Philadelphia preliminary there today. Beautiful, upscale studio in the city. The nicest people. Great location. Great turnout. #missfwphiladelphia

Valerie Rushmere's yoga classes are the best I've ever been to. Studio 1831 is a relaxing and soothing oasis in the Fairmount section of Philly where I lived for many years. Today, I'll travel from my home in the suburbs to take Val's great classes. She has everything that makes a yoga teacher wonderful: expert technique, a soothing voice, and a very deep knowledge of poses. Her kinesthetic knowledge lets her see instantly how you can adjust your pose to be correct and more effective. I'd highly recommend her for beginners and experts alike.

The facilities are nice but I found the instruction lacking compared to other classes I've taken. There are many much better studios in the area.

I have been going to Studio 1831 since Valerie opened it more than thirteen years ago. It has been my go-to home for superb instruction in Middle Eastern dance, drum circle fun, and friendship. There are two beautiful mirrored studios for classes. Valerie herself offers her peerless expertise in yoga, dance and fitness in a number of classes. Other teachers add their specialties to the roster of offerings. Check it out:-)

This studio is located close to Center City, parking is never an issue and the classes are wonderful. Valerie's belly dancing as well as yoga classes are not only the best I have found in the area; but you get the one on one attention every studenty only hopes for in a class.

The yoga classes at Studio 1831 are phenomenal! The instructors really pay close attention to proper form and alignment so you feel like you're getting your own personal trainer when you go. The studio is well-equipped with lots of props like yoga mats, straps, blankets, chairs, and balls, and they know how to use them to help you do all of the poses correctly even if you're not naturally super flexible. My favorite class is the Restorative Yoga class because it's soooo relaxing!

Try Yoga or Belly Dance with studio owner Val. You won't regret it!
