Visiting Philly and went here with some friends. I’ve never been treated so poorly by staff at a bar. The piano host was extremely rude to my friends and made comments that are not appropriate for any business. It was truly a night to celebrate and the staff dampened the experience unfortunately. Won’t be returning. Also don’t sing unless you like being hackled and made fun of.

Went to The Tavern with friends because my friends kept telling me how great this place was and they had a guy playing the piano that allows you to sing. We arrived around 11:00 ish and went straight the the corner where the piano and seating areas was. The place was PACKED and the atmosphere was a great vibe. Everyone was singing and having a great time singing along. I instantly felt like I found my tribe. As my friends kept telling me to go up and sing I waited until I felt comfortable enough to go and request a song. I stood along the wall by the piano waiting to come up and sing. As a singer who has worked on a cruise ship for 10 years I totally understand how hectic guests and patrons can be and I never want to be that person. I believe a young guy by the name of Malik came up to sing and then motioned me to come up to the stage. The gentleman on the piano made an announcement on stage etiquette and to not just come on stage, as I understood his concern the delivery was a bit harsh. I go up to request my song and he totally bypassed me as in looked over me to get the request of the young lady behind me, I politely said "I think I was next", he said in the most snobbish way " Well she has been waiting a while and I'm going to let her go". Instantly my friend asked him how could she cut in front of me and I have been waiting as well, he then said "Sweetheart everyone has been waiting you can choose to sing or not it's totally up to you", and proceeds to start playing. I felt disregarded in that moment and no longer wanted tot be there. My friends felt embarrassed as they kept raving about this place. I'm sure this place is nice but the guy that was singing was not very pleasant. I know it can be difficult trying to please everyone but to blatantly be rude and dismiss someone for someone else is not okay. After the young lady finished singing, he then took a hour break, he didn't come over to apologize or event try to explain his reasoning. I hope someone from management sees this and discuss this with him because you could potentially lose your crowd by him not being a nice person. As a fellow gentlemen I tipped him anyway for his efforts and out of respect for the craft. I will not be coming back to that establishment simply because of the experience I had with him. Very disappointing.

We love intimate spaces! I'm so glad we came here for Valentine's Day! It's exactly what I was looking for. The food was amazing and Jeff are server made us feel welcomed and comfortable. We went up to the piano bar after dinner thinking we were just going to have one drink, but ended up staying because the pianist that night was lively and engaging. The music he was playing was kind of showtuney and fun. We will definitely be back :)

I love Tavern but why did your security guy on 01:50 AM on 01/07/2024 fought me outside for waiting on my drunk friend? I don't understand. He even touched me and lifted me OUTSIDE and moved me over the street. Say thanks that I didn't call police for that. Just for WAITING MY DRUNK FRIEND OUTSIDE! Ridiculous! You at least owe me an apology.

This goes out to that obnoxious piano player we had last Friday at 10 PM, some dude named Michael or whatever. Seriously, the guy's singing was atrocious, and don't even get me started on his attitude. I saw how he snapped back at customers asking for songs or just making remarks. His snarky comebacks were just plain rude. Why is someone this grouchy and unpleasant even allowed to play in a classy joint? Zero patience for grumpy piano players. Note, this is not the same person on TOC website scheduled on Fridays 10PM named Jeffrey.

Came here again recently and the food was incredible, much much better overall experience than last time. Can't wait to return.

Waited in line for 30 mins on a weekend to get into the upstairs dance club with my friends. No problem, as they were at capacity. Got in, the bar upstairs was crowded, so I went downstairs. I bought my drink, and tried to go back upstairs. The security at the steps informed me I was not allowed back up. I explained I was just grabbing a drink and that all my friends were still upstairs. He said he didn't care, what I was trying to do was not allowed, and I needed to leave, go back outside, and wait in line again, which was now even longer. Completely ruined the night as I was not about to wait in line for another 30+ minutes by myself. Security wouldn't budge no matter what I said. Tavern, if you don't want people upstairs going downstairs to get a drink, that's fine, but you need to make it clear to the guests. Put up a sign. Have the security inform people as they come down. Anything. Maybe locals know this strange rule, but visitors don't. Security acted like I was a criminal for simply walking to a less crowded area of the club and trying to return.

The food here was mediocre at best. The deviled eggs had little flavor, the friend pickles tasted frozen and, most bizarrely of all, my pumpkin cream bucatini pasta had the consistency of paste and tasted as bad. I barely ate half of it. The staff is very friendly and the drinks were good, but my meal was not enjoyable.

This is my favorite place in center city. Friendly bartenders, good prices. And loads of free entertainment. Even the mayor elect loves it here!

Wonderful piano bar! The drinks are incredible and the service was superb. The pianists and singers also added a wonderful sound to the atmosphere.

Arrived on time for my reservation. very disappointed to find a sign on the door saying the restaurant was closed. Tried again on Tuesday, same situation. Understand that these things happen, but the Tavern should have turned off the ability to make a reservation through Open Table.

Pianist was begging for tips and was heckling those who were singing. I was here on September 27 night in case you guys wonder which pianist. Bar is great but pianist ruins the experience being pissy about tips and announcing every second that they don’t get paid enough. Not even
