I give it two stars because the guy and lady that helped me out when I was trying to leave the lot where really nice and helpful.my review:I got the manager special, which was an EV. The lady checking me in told me I only get 191 miles a charge and that charging the car takes 7-9 hours. This is true if you are using a level two charger, but using the fast chargers, it takes only an hour to get it to 80%. I think she was trying to get me to upgrade, which I should have, but I live in CA and own the same EV I rented and they have fast chargers everywhere so I thought I was fine.Maybe letting customers know that they have fast chargers in Philly would be helpful, and using an electric car is not ideal for the towns outside the area. I used the car in a town an hour from Philly, and they did not have fast chargers. I found a level two charger that took 6 hours to charge the car. I was able to find the charger because I knew what I was looking for.I was returning my car at 5 am, and no one told me I had to return it to another location since Thrifty is not open after hours. I found the sign, which is tiny, and eventually was able to return the car at Hertz. I drove into Philly to charge the vehicle, but no one told me I only had to have it charged to 60% returning the car. I am a female, and going into the city alone at 4 am to find a charger had my anxiety off the roof. I read a review that someone was charged 65 dollars since they did not charge the car. It doesn't cost that much to charge a car at a charging station. When I arrived in Philly, the car was at 65%. I thought I had to have it returned at 80% charged. I was stressed out and it was so cold. Also, I was given a car that was not even in the system which delayed me leaving the lot. The young gentleman and lady at the exit were very helpful, but how did I get a car that wasn't even returned to system?Never again.

This company is the worst, so I rented through priceline and didn't notice that I chose a package that said they would choose the vehicle for me( manager special). so when I got there the manager special was an electric car. I had to deny it because where I was going, they don’t have set up for an electric car. So I had to ask for a different vehicle. And that's when the price went from what I already paid to higher. Then, I advised by using a specific credit card that I had insurance. They did not want me to use that card. They kept pushing for me to get their insurance, so the price went up even more. Then when they asked me about the driver I said my husband and i the price went up even more. So now out of pocket was an additional $400 dollars that I was not expecting. I usually rent from enterprise. There wouldn't be a next time for this company. This company is the worst of the worst, and all they want to charge you more money.

I booked a car online and total cost was $55. I went there to pick it up and they charged me extra $50. My taxes n fees was already paid everything was paid. It was and EV and they changed it to gas. I didn't know EV will take 9hrs to charge. They don't even have charging stations. There should be written that EV will charge in 9hrs. I was there for total 6hrs how the h on earth I have 9hrs to charge. They should have charging stations so that when we leave the car is charged for them. They charge me $25 to switch to gas, i understand that now why the hell you are charging me more aftee total of $85. I would have spent less in uber. That was the only reason I was renting so that it cost me less than uber? this is FRAUD!

Friendly workers, but they are completely overwhelmed. We waited forever to pick up our car. You save money, but you have to pay in time…. Won’t rent here again. Also, we were charged $80 for using the toll road twice. Unexpected fee, and way too expensive.

If I could give them zero stars I would have, this has to be the most unprofessional group of individuals EVER not to mention SLOW as all outdoor. I have NEVER in my entire life took 2 hours to rent a car. I know now to NEVER use this car rental service..... LESSON LEARNED

These people have a very illegal (IMO) policy of charging you for tolls when you didn't have any. Their defense is that you signed the contract of course. They charged me $103 and accused me of activating some device and going through tolls. They never gave me any device, nor gave me any briefing on how to use one. I did not go through any tolls - I have Google Maps on "avoid tolls". My guess is they regularly charge renters (long after you're gone) and get away with it. Pretty slimy business practice if you ask me. I should've checked their rating (of 2.5 stars) - that sort of tells it all.

Wish I could give this zero stars. I DO NOT recommend renting from this place unless you want to wait 2 to 3 hours for a car after traveling all day. Customer service at this location was absolutely terrible. The experience was so bad that I will never rent from thrifty again. Waited over two hours plus to get a vehicle. The environment just wasn't what I wanted when landing for a vacation. Staff were rude instead of trying to help. This location needs serious help and better management. Thankfully, my vehicle was clean and I had no issues after leaving other than a fuel charge that I filed a claim for.

I agree with the other reviews. Wish I could leave ZERO stars! Waited 2 hours to get the car and then when we asked about adjusting the rental start time to account for the delay, we were told no “that’s not how it works”. The most abysmal experience I’ve EVER had with a rental car and we will steer clear from ever renting from Thrifty/Dollar. If you are flying into PHL beware!!!

(Zero stars) Sat. Sept. 30- I took the shuttle to the Thrifty location from the airport and when I arrived there was a winding line inside that actually also went outside the door for about 5-7 ft. The process going through each customer took very long and the clerks did not seem to have any sort of urgency. At different times there were from 1 to 3 clerks, but often only 1 or 2. When I finally stepped inside the door a customer leaving told us to expect more than a 2 hour wait before reaching the counter. He was not wrong. I wish I could have just cancel the reservation as some customers were doing without penalty, but since my rental was not through Thrifty, I didn't know if Economy Bookings would also refund all my money. Also, it was getting dark and finding another car would not be easy last minute (which is why I made the car reservation months ahead of time). I felt I was stuck with no recourse. When I got the vehicle it was very dark already and could not inspect for damages. I left feeling uneasy, hoping the car did not have damages I would get blamed for later. The wait was for about 2 and a half hours. Returning the vehicle was not long but I had to contend with very rude staff. I arrived (about 9:15- 9:30 am, Wed. Oct. 4) and there were no signs as to what their return procedures were. There was no one to direct you and I waited for several minutes to see if anyone would approach me or direct me as to what I needed to do. Finally I went inside to ask and I before I had the opportunity to finish my question I was yelled by a woman from the front desk to go outside, that it was done outside. I told her there was no one outside as I made my way out the door, but she didn't even bother to respond. When I went outside, it still was not clear to me who would help me with the return. Finally a man just yells to put the keys in the car and comes over. He checks mileage and for damages, and then starts to walk away, not a word. Since there are no signs on the process to inform customers I am left wondering if there's anything else. Do I need to sign? Do I get a receipt? I call out if I'm good to go, and he just waves. This was just my experience but there are many similar and even worse than mine that I witnessed while standing in line for more than 2 hours. Some customers left without a rental because of technicalities or misinformation about the requirements to pick up their reservations, often times already paid in full. There were some surprise upcharges for some people and a few left disgusted, even after waiting for hours, without a vehicle. There was a woman with a baby left stranded and crying because she was refused a rental, something about refusing her card. There are many stories like this in Google reviews that date back to months ago. I don't think the car company cares much about the poor service and their poorly trained staff in customer service. They have done nothing to change how business is done at this location.

The airport located in Philly, scammed and robbed me of $300. I was charge $300 more than what I initially paid for. They lied and said the call was dirty but mind you it was not. I had the rental for 3 days; this is a complete lie and scam. The company has no direct contact for the Philly location, I was transferred around multiple times through customer service in Texas. The Philly located knew that I would not be able to contact them directly face to face and by phone which is why this is a scam. They took advantage of the fact that I needed to take a flight and would not be able to speak with them face to face. I am placing this complaint to warn people to stay away from Thrifty car rental.

If you like pain, misery, and suffering, this is the place for you. They make you wait two hours AFTER you've had a reservation. Then it takes another twenty minutes at the counter. Why? No idea. Because you provided them all your info online. Then you get into your car and try to leave. They have some person with a computer checking your car as you leave BUT you have to have the tiny piece of paper they gave you. They can't just look up your reservation in their tablet. Why have the damn tablet then?! Why can't you just check my ID against the reservation and call it a day?! It's so stupid. Their fancy high tech security to keep you from leaving is a guy in an SUV blocking the exit and reversing when they finally decide to let you out. 0/10. Go anywhere else.

ZERO STARS. As I heard someone else say that I think sums this place up perfectly "this is worse than the DMV". Having a reputation WORSE than the DMV is quite impressive. This was my first and last Thrifty rental. Prepaid for my reservation and showed up to 4 people working and customers waiting 3 HOURS to get their car! How is this acceptable???Everyone is literally dumbfounded. No one has given any explanation for the delay so we have to assume this is their normal operations...Never ever again if you value your time and sanity
