Last Tuesday my pup had surgery to remove a benign tumor at his primary care. That went fine but then Thursday rolls around and he decides to go bananas. The lack of walks and sedation fully wearing off made him into a wild dog. Running back and forth. So much so that it ripped his stitches out. So we're sitting on the couch at about 10pm and see there is blood puddling under his leg. Like any good dog parents we freak out. Normally we would do PenVet but for some reason we called the primaries number after hours. That's how we got directed to VEG. We spoke with the receptionist there and she said bring him on in. So first off this is like no other vet I've been to. You wait right in the middle of the action. It's not like others where you sit for an hour before anyone speaks to you. I was taken immediately back and a nurse came over to me right away. The doctor was going from patient to patient and you could see it all in real time. There was no oh the doctor will get to you later. They gave him a shot and I was able to hold him and keep him comfy on a couch while he passed out. Everyone was more than willing to explain every step and this may be a little too much for others but I watch him get prepped for his stitches. After that I felt like I was being a nuisance even though they assured me I wasn't. He got so relaxed he pooped on the operating table. Once it was finished the nurse was bringing him over and he just started peeing all over the nurse. The nurse said that's been happening all day was not phased. They put him on a bed in front of the couch I was on while he came too. Every one kept stopping to check on him. One nurse even cleaned his ears while we waited. I had mentioned how much he refuses to have it done when awake. You felt the love of the job from the staff. So we left at about 1:00am and 20 minutes of that was him waking up. They told me there is another one opening up in fishtown under the El. Cost was a little over a grand. Given the nature of ER visits That is NOT terrible. Highly recommend this place for emergencies.

There are no words to describe how amazing these people are! We thought our dog was choking and rushed her over on a nasty, rainy night. They were so kind and got us right in. Ironically, she raised her head, and when they shined the light in her mouth, it showed the treat was jammed between her teeth and palette! In an instant, the vet used a tool and popped it right out! They were worried about her oxygen levels and wanted to keep an eye on her for a few more minutes. We sat quietly on the bench next to her as they rushed to help others in need. When they felt she was out of danger, they said we could go and no charge. I was so overwhelmed with gratitude! We donated to their local pet fund as we felt it was the least we could do for them being so wonderful to us and our girl. These are special people and a wonderful organization. God willing we won't need them again, but if we do, we know she'll be well taken care of!

I can't say enough hreat things about VEG!! My little Tito was really sick on Saturday of Christmas weekend. I attempted to go to an 24 hour animal hosp close to where I live, but left there after waiting an hour and a half and then was then told he wouldn't be seen for 5-6 hours!!! I then called VEG and they told me to bring him right in! The staff there is Top Notch! They treated him amazing from the time I walked in the door. He spent the night and By Sunday his fever had broken and was able to come home for Christmas! I would absolutely travel into town again if I was ever in need of emergency care for my dogs!! Thank you for the getting my baby better!

OMG VEG is the best place on earth! They treated Orange Peel aka “The Orange Man” and I like family. I was so worried about my baby but the staff eased my anxiety by walking with me every step of the way from him getting his x-rays, to surgery preparation, and post surgery. I can’t thank Dr. Reddick and Dr. Chatterjee enough for being such amazing doctors to my “spicy” boy to the point I felt so comfortable that I could bring him home afterwards. Finding out that Orange Peel needed to have surgery was a very hard decision to make but I’m so glad I’m made the right decision. I’m going to be crying tears of joy that I made the best decision in bringing my boy into VEG. We love you all!

Taking your pet to an emergency vet is always hard no matter how big or small the issue is, which is why it’s important to feel like you are in a warm & safe environment. The staff at VEG are amazing. You can feel how much they truly love animals. Every nurse has treated my pets with extra love and care. I’ve also seen how they handle extreme cases - with Grace. There is on site security, they make sure you have water , snacks , candy , coffee , blankets anything to comfort you. They even brought my cat a cute little house while we were waiting. They let you stay with your pet, they will sit on the floor with you, check in on you. And they will go through pricing so you are aware of the bill. I truly can’t say enough good things. I’ve been to a lot of emergency vets and this one is by far the best.

The team at VEG is very kind and caring. Our doctor was Brittany and she was the best. The facility is very clean. They even texted me the following day to see how my dog was doing. He is now on the road to recovery!

Had an amazing experience at this location. The people are amazing, so helpful and friendly. It clearly showed that they had my kitten’s best interests genuinely at heart. They helped me understand everything while taking my worry about expenses in heed as well. He is on a road to recovery and doing great back home with his brother. Doctors Brittany and Claire were incredible the entire time as well as the rest of the staff. Thank you for helping our family!

I’m so thankful VEG exists. From the moment I rushed into the building, Flynn and I were given such compassionate care. The model of care at VEG is really special. I was encouraged to stay with my pet as long as I needed or wanted, and felt fully involved in his treatment throughout a stressful and scary process. Dr. Chatterjee and Amanda were incredibly professional but warm at the same time. They answered my questions about anesthesia and surgery with patience and clarity. I knew Flynn was in good hands with them, and it felt like everyone at VEG loved him like he was their own cat. I don’t know how to thank them enough!

This animal hospital is truly amazing! They took great care of my dog and her newborn puppy! I was very overwhelmed when I first arrived but they definitely helped ease my nerves. I honestly felt that they cared and did everything they could to help me and my dogs. Every employee was amazing and were all very sweet! If I ever happen to have another emergency, (hopefully not) I will definitely trust them with my dogs again!

I have taken my baby Pluto to various emergency vets in Philly, and VEG is, by far, the BEST experience I have had! The staff there are INCREDIBLE. I’ve never experienced anything like it. Every single employee was the sweetest and genuinely cared. You feel important the moment you walk in, no matter how busy they are. You can feel the love and compassion from them and it truly is a different energy and blessing, and it changed my life seeing them work relentlessly and carefully for every patient. They are true heroes. I trust and support them fully, and highly recommend! Thank you so much, VEG! We so much appreciate you! ❤️

Horribly run, they don't tell you at check in or over the phone the wait is 4+ hours. If you need care urgently I'd strongly recommend going elsewhere. They left my dog crying in pain for over five hours, but were able to collect payment right away. We heard the same vet that gave us an attitude for asking about her care arguing with many other pet parents, with the same response "talk to a supervisor tomorrow" but never heard from one. It's clearly all about money here and not what's best for the pet.

I was blown away by my experience at VEG. I took my fur baby here for alarming urinary behavior; we were warmly welcomed and escorted right back. I spoke to Dr. Chatterjee within a few minutes of arrival, who triaged him and set clear and fair expectations. My pet was ultimately seen by Dr. Caldwell, who was very patient and attentive to my concerns, in addition to being kind and gentle with my sick boy. In fact, all of the staff were just as kind (not only to pets and parents but to each other - I could sense a strong team dynamic).Of course, this is an emergency vet so I fully expected to wait hours and pay a decent chunk of money. However, the wait was made tolerable by the comfy couches, the free snacks, the fact that I was able to participate in my dog’s care, and the ability to watch the staff work their magic around me with all the other pets in need of emergency care. And the cost was absolutely fair.At the end my the visit, some lab work was still outstanding, so Dr. Caldwell recommended we head home to get the meds started and promised to text me later that night with the results. And she did! I also received a comprehensive email with everything they did for my boy - including the actual x-ray images.Hopefully I won’t ever need to come back here, but if my pet experiences another emergency, I will not hesitate to return. I highly recommend this place.

I wholeheartedly recommend VEG for any pet emergency. I was able to call to speak to a vet ahead of coming in. Upon arrival, the team was extremely friendly and helpful. My dog was extremely anxious and they were very calming and understanding with him. While waiting for the vet, I became more concerned about my dog’s behavior, and they immediately sent someone in to check on my dog and calm my concerns. Additionally, the direct integration with my local vet made it a very simple process. Thank you for helping my dog!

Nice staff, but if you’re having any sort of exotic pet emergency I’d recommend taking them anywhere but here.2 visits, 7 hours, & $1,600 later my sweet ferret is gone. Proper diagnostic procedures were not done or even offered at the first visit, I was told she had a bellyache and to take her home. The second visit 48 hrs later when proper diagnostic testing was run it was revealed she had a blockage but it was already too late.
