“I've been attending classes at Level Red since 2019 and love this studio. If you're considering, here is a quick breakdown:Classes: They offer an ample amount of options ranging between 30-60-90 mins from early mornings through the evening, which make fitting in a workout as easy as possible for you. The classes are intense with no minute wasted, but you're also welcome to go at your own pace and modify as needed.Teachers: They have a lot of instructors who each have their own style. Some are more advanced and quickly-paced while others cater more to beginners. The variety helps keep things fresh and challenging.Community: The studio makes great efforts to build a positive sense of community. Just watch their social media; they're constantly cheering on their students. The membership is also diverse, which personally makes me feel extra comfortable and welcome. The studio also sets fun monthly goals with a reward to keep you extra motivated and accountable.All in all, really can't recommend them enough!”

“I have been going to JAM Fitness Coaching for nearly 4 years and highly recommend their services.At JAM you have an evaluation to determine your fitness abilities, needs and wants, then a workout program is written for you.It makes a world of difference to have a fitness professional make a plan for you to follow and then helps you to do the exercises correctly. “CFA was everything I could’ve wished for and then some.I’ve been in gyms for most of my life. Before CFA, I felt kind of lost in my fitness journey and was trying to find my way. I was nervous to try a new form of training, but now being six months in, I do not regret my decision in the slightest.The people I train with are great, the coaches and programming are great and thorough, and I will miss CFA dearly. Training became fun again, I was consistently challenged, but I gained so many friends and supporters along the way. Gabe and Jenn run a top-notch organization.”

“I love this place. Here is the deal-I am not an athlete and that’s ok.The coaches get that and help me work to my top potential. They customize the training to my level.This gym has two options-1. They have high energy classes that incorporate a little bit of everything from cardio to weight training to coordination drills.2. Semi personal training. It’s a great concept without the costs of a 1-1 trainer. Essentially there is a group of 8-10 students that rotate between eight sections. Each section has two different exercises. The trainers/coaches walk around and show you how to do each set. If you are not doing it correctly or they see an opportunity to improve, they will share with you. If you need a confidence boost, they will cheer for you. I really like this approach as I do not want a personal trainer to watch me every second and this style gives me the perfect amount of independence with support/guidance/motivation if I need it.Notes-1. I love the smoothie bar. Healthy smoothies that are low sugar. Huge perk.2. The coaches are great. They genuinely care and want to push you but are not over the top. They know what I need to work on and customize the workout so I stay safe but keep challenging me to push harder. My main coach is Kristen as she works nights and tends to always be there when I am there. She sold me on Faster and I’m glad she did. The Nicks, Charles, Megan, “T”, Jason, and Matt are all great. They know their stuff and get me through the workout. They really don’t have a bad egg at this place. Each have their own style but work well together.3. They have one of the fancy body analyzers to track your progress. Super interesting and worth trying.4. They work with a caterer if you need a meal plan and also sell their own supplements.Overall this is a good spot who will cater to your level and personality. I trust them fully.”

“I joined this gym to get in shape and learn some kettlebell skills and I've got that and more! I've had the pleasure of taking classes with 3 of the coaches and they have all been friendly and professional. The workouts have been tough but the coaches always have ways to adapt the work to your body type and current fitness level. The people at the gym have great as well; it's a cool community of people who are looking to put in the work! Great gym, cannot recommend it to anyone looking to get or stay fit!”

“Love Pittsburgh Fitness Project! My partner and I go here, it’s one of the most welcoming gyms I’ve ever been to. I never feel judged and am always given clear direction and education on the movements we are doing. Workouts are challenging but I can still move the next day. PFP primal and kettlebell on Tuesdays and Thursday are the best. Shout out to Jake who stayed late when we were delayed bc of traffic and led us through a great workout. Incredibly accommodating and caring gym community!”

“I love going here, and it's been a huge help with my flexibility. It's worth trying a couple of different people, as they have slightly different emphasis on the way they stretch you. Some of them have a physiology background (PT-in-training, etc), some have done a lot of dance, etc. Tyler has been fantastic for me, but find the person you work best with and stay with them for consistent results.My only complaint is that the membership system leaves a good bit to be desired. Two key issues:1) You are required to buy a 3-month package, and then it's a recurring subscription after that. Sometimes you only want a couple of stretches, and sometimes you want more.2) This "package" problem is compounded by the way the online reservation system works. You get your 4 "credits" per month, but you can't book in advance of the credit. The credits expire every month too, so they're basically only good for the month they are issued. This means if you get your credits on March 1st, you can't book anything until that day. Good instructors tend to book 7-10 days in advance, so there goes the first week of the month. The, of course, the credit expires on the 31st of march, so if you were trying to go once/ week every week, it's difficult to make that work. They should extend the credits so that they are good for 60 days, or let members reserve in advance.”

“We came in for the free session back in October to get our 12yr son out of the house (off the games) and to see if this would be something he would be interested in. He was hesitant at first but after the 1st session he wanted to come back the next day! We ended up signing him up for the 1on1 training which he does twice a week. He still really enjoys going and has not complained once about going to the sessions. Thank you to Cam for training with him each week and providing a positive experience for him!”

“The first time I ever tried kickboxing was here in 2019, and it was so much fun that my now-wife and I signed up to be members and came to classes regularly for a few months. The trainers were extremely personable and the classes were a great mix of fun and challenging. We still have our gear and intend to come back sometime in the future.”

“My boyfriend introduced me to Raise after working with Ray for a couple of years, and I was nervous to get started - I had never done any weight training and had a messed up relationship with structured exercise after high school sports ?I have now been working out with Ray for 6 months, and my entire relationship with exercise has changed. He has an incredible ability to understand each clients’ capabilities and how to help them to reach their goals in a personalized manner. I enjoy going to the gym not only for the fun / challenging workouts, but also because the gym environment is so supportive and not toxic. Ray has helped me to lose 30 pounds so far, but more importantly, to improve my fitness in ways I never dreamed would be possible. I have already referred several folks his way and would recommend Raise to anyone, at any fitness level, who is looking to improve their health / strength / find a fun workout!”

“Only great things to say about F45 in the Strip District. If working out is something you struggle to find the motivation to do, definitely give F45 a try. It completely changed my outlook on working out and for the first time I understand why people enjoy it!I've gone to 3 sessions so far. Chase, Emily, and Jordan (trainers) made it the most welcoming environment which was a huge part of me coming back, since I'm typically timid walking into any gym. On top of all of this, I have never had such a great work out/ have never felt so great after a work out.10/10 recommend.”

“I joined Burn just a couple months ago and my original goal was to go 3 times a week, but I’ve been consistently going 4 times a week, which is way more than I’ve been to any other gym I’ve joined over the years. It’s never the same workout and I love that they revolve around stations, so you’re always moving and it makes the workouts go quick. The trainers are amazing!!! They learn your name on the first day and are always there to correct your form and motivate you the whole time. All of the members are so nice too and just want to help you meet your goals, whether it’s the high five at the end of an exercise or helping you on the pull up bars. I’ve really enjoyed working out there and with free child watch, I don’t have an excuse to miss a class!”

“Brick by Brick is an amazing gem of a gym for all ages and fitness levels. Coach Dillon creates multiple new exciting workouts monthly that rotate daily so you are never bored with the same old routines. I’ve tried larger, perhaps “more glamorous” gyms and found myself lost in intimidating large crowds of chaos. That is not what you get here. The classes are intentionally small, really gives you the one on one personal training experience without the cost of one on one. He will also adapt his workouts if you have any physical injuries or limitations…no need to skip a workout while you’re down. No yearly contracts, pricing options on how many classes you can commit to and you can make changes anytime. The members are all wonderful, supportive and fun. I have never enjoyed working out until I tried this place. Brick has helped me transform my rusty cage into something almost unrecognizable to me.Bonus, there is an Aldi directly across the street to stock up on fresh food after your workout!”

“Fitness Factory is my favorite gym in Pittsburgh! It's an old-school bodybuilding gym located in Shadyside. This gym is always kept clean and any damaged equipment is fixed the next day. The staff and members are extremely friendly and always greet people with a nice smile. My favorite part is the unique and electric decorations all throughout the gym! Not to mention, their equipment is top-notch. FF has outstanding machines that isolate certain muscles from different angles. (perfect for bodybuilding!) I am proud to be a member of this gym because its uplifting atmosphere motivates me to show up every single day. If you are ever in the area, I recommend getting a membership or even just a day pass at Fitness Factory!”

“Having just moved in September I was sticking with my Planet Fitness membership until I got settled. Fast forward to mid December. I had stopped by St. Clair Fitness/Raquet Club aka St. Clair Crossift to talk to Zak about getting on a program that's more free weight based. Once this was done and I saw the vibe of the gym was real low key and everyone just minding their own business, I decided this was the perfect spot for me. I grabbed the POWL (Plain Old Weight Lifting) membership which runs $40 a month. The set up is well laid out - you have the BBI personal training area, the main weight floor is cardio, free weights, & some machines, another area with punching bags, ring set ups, etc. Josh the owner is always there to say hi & chat. In the few weeks I've been a member I've been very motivated to go early in the morning before work and actually look forward to going to the gym, which is something I haven't done in 4 years. Also, being less than 10 minutes from my house is a huge perk.”

Of the six boxes I've been a member of over the years, I think of Crossfit Pittsburgh as the standard to meet.”

“I can’t say enough good things about the Fox Chapel anytime fitness.The entire staff is so personable and encouraging, they go beyond what is expected of them as both staff and trainers, plus it is the cleanest and most well-kept gym I have ever been in!The personal training program has not only transformed my body physically, but also helped me gain confidence in the gym and improved my entire mentality about working out. The trainers work hard to make sure your form is perfect before they worry about loading on weight.
