“The owner, Gayle, always makes for a wonderful experience. Pricing is very reasonable, and the quality of her work is just fantastic. I drive almost an hour to get all of my framing done by her and have used her services many times. Always with the same great results. I would recommend this gem for all your framing needs, plus she sells some really high-quality artwork from local artists that are just plain amazing.”

“This place is awesome! Once a month, they offer a free event for the community, and this month's event, we made gift boxes. All of the art supplies were included, and we had 2 hours to be as creative as we wanted to be.”

“As a spooky bae, I needed a place like this, even if I have to drive to my neighboring county to get to it. They're the kindest, gentlest folks and top notch weirdos. The shop is curated and creepy. Their events are awesome and so well organized. Thanks for bringing joy to this dead heart.”

“H&L Studio (Hector and Lester's) was recommended to me by a lamp repair person who said theirs is the only shop to tackle the restoration portion of my late mother's circa 1910 slag glass lamp shade. Certain things need to be handled with especially deft hands and keen eyes. Such a master of the craft is Hector, who was able to finesse the straightening and repair of the lamp shade; he strengthened, aligned and anchored the six glass panels expertly, and I cannot fully express how happy I am with the result. H&L studio is a boutique of sorts; I believe they hold classes and sell pieces in their front retail area ... and Hector and Lester's true stewardship especially shines through on intricate high-level commissions and restorations. They can do it all, it seems, when it comes to the broad medium of decorative and stained glass. Highly recommended.”

“Have you been to the (New) York Wireworks and Flea Market yet? This craft wonderland opened this year and has expanded by the month. There are lots of booths for local arts-sellers and plenty of cute gift ideas- from handmade earrings to specialty water bottles, clever clothing choices to alpaca-fur finds. A cross between an antique mall, vintage store and artisan market, It's a great little spot to spend an hour or two- and it grows bigger by the day!”

“Just Brenda Art Studio is the kind of place that makes living in York exciting, trendy, edifying, and just plain fun! Brenda Wintermyer, the owner and artist, is a warm, well-read, well-traveled woman who is dedicated not only to her art but to updating and revitalizing the downtown area of York City. From the minute you walk through her door and climb the stairs to her studio you know you are in the presence of something wonderful and possibly life-altering. She greets you with the enthusiasm of a long-lost friend. She will stop whatever she is doing to talk with you...and be prepared to spend some time because there is so much to talk about! As you wander through her studio, which is on the small side but jam-packed with wonderful things to look at, Brenda will happily explain to you the history behind each piece, what inspired it, why she created it, and if it is part of a series. Brenda also holds art classes for the beginner as well as the more experienced artist. Her teaching style is to encourage the student and instruct without ever making the student feel unaccomplished (or in my case, hopeless!) Brenda's studio is open every First Friday event in downtown York, and many old friends as well as some new ones, can be found drinking tea or wine, chatting, and just enjoying the warmth and bonhomie that Brenda naturally engenders. Stop in sometime and say hi!”

“I recently stopped in here for the opening of a new exhibit and was surprised at how affordable the prices were. I ended up purchasing a small piece, my first original art purchase ever and another as a gift. They are very welcoming and approachable.”

“I've been to the gallery portion of Creative York a few times on First Fridays, they have a great selection of local artists and always have new, interesting pieces rotating. Recently I did their Date Night Pottery Wheel Class with a group of girls. It was so fun! There's a learning curve to this but you will get the hang of it over the course of the two hours and be able to produce at least one piece of pottery! You can make however many pieces you want within within two hours, you just have to pay a small additional fee for any additional pottery you want them to fire and glaze (one piece of pottery is included with the class). I would absolutely do this again and will check out the other art classes they offer.”

“Great selection for shopping, and a cafe just opened as well. This is one of my go-to places to get a handmade gift for friends and family! Love getting a massage at Deja Vu as well!”
