About Golf Le Château Montebello
Golf Le Château Montebello is recognized for its exciting and challenging course layout, set in the beautiful landscape of the Outaouais region. Designed by Stanley Thompson, the course winds tightly through graceful forests with dramatic elevation changes and some elevated tees providing lovely views. It is known as a wonderful design and one of the best public courses in Quebec, offering an overall golfing experience that is second to none with great value. The terrain is fairly mountainous, featuring challenging greens with steep slopes that add difficulty. Reviews note the greens are a pleasure but can be very fast with too much relief. While the design is highly praised, some conditions are criticized, such as fairways described as thin in grass and cart paths in a state of disarray. The staff, however, receives consistent praise for being very friendly and providing a warm and attentive welcome. A point of contention is the value, with some finding it too expensive for the quality, while others call it extremely great value. A final, noted downside is the unavailability of beverages like beer on the patio after a round, which is considered bizarre. Despite some maintenance critiques, the course is considered a real gem with a fascinating past and a memorable, challenging round.
