Argo Bookshop, founded in 1966, is a beloved community bookstore located in Montreal. Originally established on Ste-Catherine St. West, it moved across the street after a fire in 1967 and has been a welcoming space for readers ever since. Despite slow beginnings, the shop was kept alive by a dedicated owner until 2006, and it continues to operate today with the same passion. In October 2021, it moved to a new location at 1841-A Ste-Catherine Ouest, just half a block east of its long-time home. The store offers a well-curated selection of books, including English and Japanese literature, graphic novels, fantasy books, and queer titles. Customers appreciate the friendly staff, the calm ambiance, and the chance to find treasures regularly. Argo Bookshop hosts events and provides a cozy place to read and chat, making it a favorite spot for locals. Its collection and atmosphere make it a small but wonderful gem for book lovers of all interests and ages.
Locally owned bookseller, world-class customer service; a touch on the smaller side but it's my go-to for ordering books! The staff is always helpful, friendly, and easy to get ahold of.
