If you want my opinion, the biggest cause of long lines is poorly prepared or downright stupid customers. If you've ever sent a letter in your life, maybe you should Google it instead of arriving at the counter without an envelope and a pencil.
You also have everyone who does not prepare their shipments in advance on the Canada Post website (which saves you time and money via preferential rates).
For regular Canada Post users who are independent but still have to go to the counter for necessities, I am much more wary of the people in the line than the person at the counter.

“Don't go during lunch time 12-1 pm and late afternoon 4:30-5:30 pm usually very busy long lines with only 1-2 employees. Lines sometimes go fast sometimes not. Otherwise when it's not busy you've got efficient service. It's definitely better than the one in Lachine mall.”
