“Lighthouse has truly been a second home for our family. All three of my children have attended. We started in the midst of COVID, when trusting anyone with your kids felt incredibly hard. From the very beginning, Lighthouse felt safe, steady, and caring, and it has always stayed that way. The staff doesn’t just care for your children, they genuinely know them. Their emotions, their weird phases, their challenges and strengths. Communication is thoughtful and constant, and the love is real. Two of my boys have graduated from pre-K more than ready for kindergarten…confident, capable, and excited to learn. We joke about having another baby so we never have to leave…but it’s barely a joke. If you’re a parent up at midnight reading reviews, anxious and second-guessing everything, you should stop here. This is the place.”

“This was the second home for my son for many years. He is our first, and as any parent would feel, we wanted the safest place and the best care for him. Even though the Island was a bit far from us, we chose it. My son loved it. He had the best care. The staff, caregivers, teachers everybody was amazing! Such a wonderful community! The pre-k graduation was memorable! My son is now in the first grade. We still remind The Island with plenty of gratitude!”

Our kids have spend a combined four years at BECC, and we have had nothing but good experiences with the school. We recommend it to everyone we know with preschool aged kids.Pros:Play based learning- the kids learn so much, but they just think they're playing.Happy Veteran Teachers- seriously there are teachers who have been at the school for 30 years!Face-to-face interactions on a daily basis with teachers- every day at pick up and drop off I get to see my kids classroom and teachers.Authentic assessments- the teachers observe and track student progress with pictures and notes, and then collect them all into a portfolio that they then share during conferences.Super clean- no gross preschool smell herePlayground community- the playground is a great place to meet up before and after school!Non-Profit Status- provides opportunities for volunteering and involvementSchool Board of Directors- parents apply to be involved in decision making and support of the schoolCons:The school ends at age 5- I would sign my kids up for all of elementary school here if I could!I am writing this review as my kids are both aging out of the school this year and I want spread the word about this school that has provided such a safe, loving, and supportive learning environment for my kiddos!”

“My son is learning very well and enjoying the process. He started in the primary program and is now in first grade still loving it. They learn respect, cooperation and practical life skills. How lovely that he learned to use a dustpan and broom in the classroom and as long as he knows where the towels are, he will automatically clean up his own spills at home too! This is a small perk, the best part is the joy and enthusiasm he has for learning. The school community of parents, teachers and staff is warm, welcoming and supportive.”
