“Been here a few times. The mechanics take time to fully explain what’s going on and don’t make it too complicated, So you can leave feeling confident about your decision. They do good work, I had Some misfire codes popping up on the dash they identified the issue being the spark plugs gave me a rundown of how and why it happened and worked with my budget to get done what was necessary and not tack on anything extra for the sake of it”

“I have been going to D&B for a few years now and I am so happy to have found someone I can truly trust. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and helpful. The women at the front desk are wonderful to speak with and they take the time to explain the issues and how they will be resolved. The work rate is extremely fair and they do their best to get you the lowest prices, especially if you are not in a rush. The mechanics are friendly and speak with you about your vehicle in a way you can understand. I have never had an issue with them telling me I need to fix things that don’t need to be fixed. They will let you know if they see any upcoming issues and keep you aware of regular maintenance (oil changes, tire rotations, etc) with out pushing you to do the work with them.
I would absolutely recommend D&B to anyone in the area looking for a trustworthy place to service your vehicle.”
“I brought my Volkswagen Tiguan to Mr. Gurney at Island Woods Auto with the impression that I had severe engine damage, and may likely have to sell it to a salvage yard.
After extensively researching the issue, he was able to diagnose the source of the problem, receive the necessary part, and install it, in time for me to be able to pick up the vehicle that same day before he closed.
Now it runs better than it did before it broke down in the first place.

“This place is the best transmission shop that I have been to! The owners are hardworking caring people who genuinely want to help. I had an issue with my 2018 GMC Sierra, and the owner was able to take it in and let me know exactly what was going on. The communication was excellent, The service was unbelievable, and everything was done within a very short period. “AMAZING SERVICE ?
This is not a BS review—if you’re wondering whether you should bring your car here, let me tell you why you should.
First off, I hit a snowbank because of black ice and broke my suspension. If you know anything about cars, you know that’s easily one of the top five worst (and most expensive) things to fix.
The front desk manager handled everything—coordinating with my insurance and arranging for the inspection—so all I had to do was wait for a call. It made the whole process completely stress-free.
At one point, I got a “bill” from the insurance company and panicked. I called them, and they calmly walked me through it, explaining that it was just an estimate of the cost—not something I actually owed.
Then I finally got my car back after the repairs… and wow. It literally drives better than when I bought it.”

“On Friday 1-23-26, I got a flat on 295 on my way to work. I asked a local FB group for recommendations and told about Southern New England Auto and Repair as well as Jay reach out himself. When I arrived there was like down the road. Can’t go wrong with a packed business at 10am. Despite being 4th in line. I was in and out in less than an hour. I paid 41 bucks to have the fire placed on the rim and mounted to my car. Would have been 37 if I paid cash. When I left there was still a line of cars waiting. “What can I say??? The most knowledgeable VW guy I've ever come across? Also maybe the nicest. Nick spent so much time with me and went, way...I mean WAY out of his way to help me out. This is where you need to be. He literally got my vintage VW engine going while it was in the back of my pickup truck...yes running...blowing exhaust. Prior he set the valves and small adjustments on timing. Then, after starting tweaked the timing and tuned my carb. Talk about the comfort level I feel being able to install my engine, in my '62 Beetle Ragtop, knowing it is completely ready to go. So talented and nice. 10 STARS!!!”
