Stayed here this weekend with my two kids and partner. Absolutely loved everything from the location to the service to the room itself. It’s a bit outdated, but it’s all we needed, and we tend to like the charm anyway. We stayed in an apartment room and the extra space was perfect for us. We will definitely be staying again.

Great location, right off Thames and in the middle of everything from shopping to restaurants.Nice breakfast and afternoon tea.Room decor is tired. Space is tight. Basic amenities in the room.Front desk staff is disengaged and barely communicates with guests.Nearby activities: located in the middle of Thames, so super convenient.Noteworthy details: Note that even though the website says that parking is extra, make sure you have cash. No credit cards taken. Short walk up the street to get to parking lot.

Absolutely a hidden Gem of Rhode Island, me and a friend came to Newport and tried to stay, but we didn't realize the front desk closed at 10. But we came back the next night and stayed and absolutely do not regret any piece of our visit. They have an amazing upper deck to look off of, it's in the center of Newport so everywhere is walk-able, the front desk is incredibly helpful, they have incredible breakfast options for a hotel in it's price range. Incredible hidden gem and would absolutely stay here again. Significantly better than the hotel right across the street, and feels more like home.Rooms: The rooms are phenomenal, plenty of space. I stayed in a 2 bed room with a friend and instead we were given two rooms with a bathroom connector, which literally could not have been any more perfect. Everything about this place just screams home.Walkability: Right in the center of downtown Newport, makes walking around to navigate the easiest way to get around.

While on vacation to Newport, my family stayed at the America’s Cup Inn. While staying there, we dealt with unsafe conditions and an unresponsive staff. We stayed in one of their apartments because it was pet friendly, however, the conditions in the room and the entryway were unsafe. The door to access the apartment opened inwardly into a staircase, forcing the occupant to stand on the second step in order to open the front door when leaving. The light switch at the bottom of the staircase had loose wiring and often did not function.Once inside, the room had stained sofa/bar stools, broken lamps, sunken mattress, and rickety furniture. A fan in the wall had no cover (suspect it was previously connected to a range hood) – someone could have easily been injured or lost a finger. No smoke detectors pre-1970 existed. Electrical surges (buzzing noises) occurred when running the wall-unit air conditioners. In addition, there was no horizontal shade on the windows with the AC units, so the bright light of Buskers Pub’s upstairs storage room across the street shined right into the main bedroom until 3:00 AM each morning and we had no privacy. We complained to the staff the first night we were there, on our second to last day and finally the day we left the hotel. The staff did not communicate back after we made these complaints, and so on our last morning we demanded a response. They made no financial gesture, took no responsibility for the problems, and ultimately told us that many other people would be lining up to reserve their rooms. We believe that other potential patrons need to be made aware of the conditions of the hotel and the lack of responsiveness of the staff at The America’s Cup Inn.
