I have been coming to the CVS on Quaker Lane in North Kingstown for a while now, and the pharmacy team here has set a bar that other pharmacies simply do not reach. The reason is Shannon. She is the kind of pharmacist you hear about but rarely get. She knows me by name, she knows my history, and she catches things before they ever become a problem. When I have a question, she gives me a real answer instead of a rushed one, and she explains it in a way that actually makes sense. She never makes you feel like you are holding up the line. She is patient, sharp, and clearly cares about the people on the other side of the counter. In all my visits I have never had an issue. Refills are ready when they should be, the counter runs smoothly, and the whole staff is friendly and professional. If you are choosing a pharmacy in North Kingstown, this is the one. “Dear Pharmacy Staff, In a world that seems to be more and more desensitized, dismissive, and detached from the personal needs of others, a world where accommodations once made for individuals are a distant memory. My recent experience with your pharmacy staff was ingratiating, thoughtful, insightful, and professional beyond words; I just felt it was necessary to express my tremendous gratitude. I stopped by to pick up my prescriptions only to discover that my prescription insurance carrier had left the state in December, and I was never notified. Your staff was incredibly gracious as I fumbled through trying to understand what had taken place while I faced a $500 charge for the blood pressure medication I needed, which should have been a $2 copay. I raced home to grab my insurance information, assuming there must be some type of error, when I discovered my carrier had left the state and I was left uncovered for my prescription needs. I spent an hour researching the possibilities and found another carrier that I qualified for since mine had left, and I immediately reestablished insurance for my prescriptions, which won’t start until March 1. To my amazement, I received a call from your staff; I had left my credit card behind, and it was in a safe place until I returned. I explained my insurance issue and stated I needed to hold off on the new medication until March 1st when it would be covered, and I was heading back to the pharmacy. To my astonishment, understanding my crisis, they were able to assist tremendously in reducing the cost of the medication I needed without even being asked, so I could begin the treatment immediately that I desperately needed. This might sound like a small thing to most, but in today’s world, where customer service is often just a disenfranchised AI response, being cared for and having my needs met by such an ingratiating staff meant the world to me. Loblaw Companies Limited is putting serious money into its retail network this year. Canada's largest food and pharmacy retailer announced it will spend $2.4 billion in 2026 to open new stores, renovate existing locations and strengthen its supply chain. The company plans to open 70 new stores in 2026. That includes 34 Shoppers Drug Mart and Pharmaprix pharmacies and care clinics, along with 31 hard-discount No Frills and Maxi grocery stores. On top of the new openings, Loblaw will renovate another 191 stores and continue construction on a roughly 1.2 million-square-foot automated distribution center in Caledon, Ontario.
