“I brought my Volkswagen Tiguan to Mr. Gurney at Island Woods Auto with the impression that I had severe engine damage, and may likely have to sell it to a salvage yard.
After extensively researching the issue, he was able to diagnose the source of the problem, receive the necessary part, and install it, in time for me to be able to pick up the vehicle that same day before he closed.
Now it runs better than it did before it broke down in the first place.

“I made the mistake of purchasing two new tires for the front of my car from a local tire dealer and suffered terrible vibrations at both low speed and highway speeds. The whole car would shake while driving. I brought the car back four times and they were unable to fix the problem. I was told that the new tires had flat spots on them, so they replaced the tires again. Still the problem occurred!
I was then told that the rims were bent and needed to be replaced. That's when I went to Melvin's Tire in Smithfield, RI. Dwyane was excellent! Within 30 minutes, his technician checked the wheels and determined they were not bent. They checked the new tires and determine they were fine as well. However, they did find that the previous dealer I bought the tires from failed to remove all of the old adhesive wheel weights from inside the wheels, which was causing excessive road force and vibration.
Once they cleaned the wheels of all the old weights, they easily rebalanced them and the car road tested fine with no further vibrations. That settles it! From now on, all my tire work and maintenance goes Melvin's Tire, Smithfield. These guys know what their doing and I don't mind paying good money for superior work! Thanks Dwayne!”

“3 generations working under the same roof! Took my 2006 Jeep Wrangler in for a check engine light that the previous owner said has been on since he bought it new. Says the dealership couldn't figure it out and simply reset the computer long enough to pass inspection each time. I took it to another shop, who also couldn't figure it out. Then I met Sparky, Steven and Wiz. They figured it out and fixed it in a couple hours. Couldn't be happier with them. I've been disappointed so many times by dealerships. This place is great.”
