My friends and I stopped at ulta after going to target like we always do to go buy fake nails. Although this time was different because we kept getting pestered and harassed by workers asking if we needed help while we were looking. We did not think anything of this as we were only looking but we were in the aisle and they approached us over 4 times and we said we were good. My friend bought her nails but my other friend and I were waiting for her to finish paying. As she was paying me and my friends noticed that the workers were giving us very weird looks almost as if we did something wrong. We had a feeling that they had a problem with us but still while we were exiting we smiled at them and left. Then we had went to Barnes and nobles after. We had split up one of my friends looking at books and my other friend and I just looking for something she wanted to get. In that same moment behind us was a police officer asking us if we were just at ulta and we said yes. He asked for our other friend and asked us to step outside. Then took down our information, questioned us, and looked in our bags from target. This is in no way to complain about the security they were really understanding, this review was about how the service at ulta is very poor and we got stopped for no reason before even asking us WHILE WE WERE AT ULTA and bringing it all the way to Barnes and nobles. Do not shop here. Ulta needs to do better

I was there with two of my friends and did not do ANY suspicious activity, we were only looking at the nails and the whole time the workers were looking at us weird, they kept walking past and asking us questions. They got THREE police cars involved and assumed that we were shop lifting. Mind you I’ve NEVER shop lifted or had a problem with people with any ulta. This was the only ulta that just made assumptions. The workers there were all white and all just assumed that people who are not their race. This was the worst experience and was just so bad in general.

I’m a returning customer who pops in and out regularly, and I’m honestly shocked that the AC still hasn’t been fixed after a whole month. It’s not just uncomfortable it’s inhumane, especially during a heat advisory. The employees are expected to stand in that heat for hours, and customers are sweating while trying to shop. This isn’t just bad business, it’s a basic health and safety issue. What kind of company allows this in 2025? Ulta needs to do better. Your workers and your loyal customers deserve more.

Mackenzie P. Gave me the haircut I didn’t know I needed!! I went in just for a trim, and he suggested to give me front pieces he said it would look good. He was absolutely right, he was so nice and I enjoyed my appointment from start to finish, thank you Mackenzie!

This was one of the worst salon experiences I’ve had. I came in for a simple root touch-up, and Celia didn’t even take the time to check my current hair color. She used the wrong formula—one with a red tint that completely clashed with my natural shade. The result was a disaster.
They tried to fix it by reapplying a brown color, but the damage was already done. My hair now looks uneven and dull, and it will take months to correct this mistake. While they didn’t charge me, that doesn’t make up for the stress and long-term impact on my hair. I’m extremely disappointed. This level of negligence and lack of professionalism is unacceptable. I won’t be returning.

If you are LGBT do not shop here, go to the Sephora next door if you can. I just finished my routine shopping trip picking up some skincare essentials and I had an absolutely awful experience with a supposed “sales associate”. The second me and my girlfriend entered this location I received a disgusted, nasty look by an older Hispanic woman who was dressed in casual clothing. She had no name tag on so I assumed she was just a customer and went about my business picking up products I like. She began to follow our every move and stare us down like a hawk with the same disgusted look on her face, and she saw my girlfriend lean in close to me and she literally huffed at us. After my girlfriend was holding a few items for me, she came rushing over and literally pushed an older couple out of the way to shove a bag in my girlfriend’s face. She did not even say hello or smile while doing so. The older couple even looked at her weird for doing that. My girlfriend tried to refuse the bag but she did not leave us alone until she took it.
No offense, but I don’t look like the type of person who is broke and can’t afford to buy a few serums and moisturizers, I literally came in holding the key to my Mercedes and wearing my designer jewelry. I have never had an experience like this before going in as an LGBT couple. I was wearing some pride flags on my outfit and my girlfriend is masculine looking. I do not anticipate being harassed in a makeup store of all places, especially one I regularly go to. After going to Ulta I went to the Sephora next door and was greeted very warmly by their employees. Skip this dump and go somewhere you will be treated with respect.

Just heard the male manager tell his staff to follow me and my partner around to make sure we weren’t stealing. Nobody was stealing we have a credit card for ulta bro. Your job isn’t that cool nice try tho. Sorry to the poor girls who have to work under him.

Absolutely love this Ulta! The store is always clean, well-organized, and stocked with a wide range of beauty products. The staff is incredibly helpful and knowledgeable; they always have great recommendations and are quick to help with any questions.

I’ve been a customer of this ulta for several years, and even though it’s the closest one to my house I will NEVER go to this location again! I have an event tomorrow, and I was looking for a new concealer to cover up a terrible breakout I am experiencing. I have endometriosis and struggle with occasional flare ups of hormonal acne. The store associate Madison assisted me, and she was rude, unprofessional & degrading. Saying that my dermatologist is wrong and gave me the wrong skin diagnosis. That I need to change my diet, asking me if I eat McDonald’s and a lot of processed foods, basically insinuating I do. Giving me rude stares while asking me these overbearing questions. Saying those types of foods will settle in your “waist line “ while looking at me up and down. Just a few examples of the long list of “tips” she gave me. I felt so uncomfortable and insulted. It honestly felt like a lecture, and she stopped mid conversation to ask if I wanted to “write this all down”. Also, when she color matched me for the concealer she was so aggressive with cleansing my face and dabbing on the product. I told her I had very sensitive skin, and she didn’t even ask me if I had any allergies or particular skin sensitivities before applying the cleanser. She says she’s a licensed esthetician but used the tester applicator DIRECTLY on my face. Studies show how skin care & makeup product testers harbor insane amounts of bacteria. GROSS. I found it very hypocritical that she had bad mouthed my Dermatologist! Store Associates like Madison are the reason why women, especially women suffering with various hormonal and skin conditions feel so uneasy and scared to seek beauty advice in these types of stores! I left the store, and immediately burst into tears. I went home and my skin was burning and inflamed. My mother and I were appalled at this encounter. This location has officially lost my business, I’ll drive the 15 minutes out of my way to grab my products at the Garden City location.

I had the best experience today at the Smithfield Ulta. I was looking for a new foundation and some hair products. The first time person who helped me pick a foundation was so friendly and professional. We tried three different brands. I asked her about suggestions for hair products and we went straight to the hair professional in the back. She was also very helpful. I don’t know either of their names, but I left feeling so grateful for their time and effort they put in to assist me.

I am leaving a 5-star review based on a recent experience my daughter and I had with a young lady by the name of Arielle at checkout. It's a long story, but we had a very complicated checkout with a return, a gift card purchase to be used for a ship-to-home order and a regular purchase. It was much more involved than what I am stating here ? but Arielle was AMAZING. She was pleasant and helpful and professional throughout. She made what could have been a very taxing and frustrating transaction as pleasant as possible. I hope the management at Ulta, and this store in particular, know what a great asset she is to their company. So many stores have such poor customer service, especially at checkout--not so at this Ulta. It's clear to me that Arielle has great people skills--she's going to go far. Thank you Arielle!
