Booked a reservation; location accepted it, then when I arrived, I was told there were no cars. The family behind me at check in was able to get theirs. Cost me $25 in an Uber to go to the airport location. Horrible business practice.. I'm a preferred member and was treated rudely. This location should be shut down if they can't follow through with their reservations. BAD!!! Losing a loyal Avis customer over this after this trip

The rental car company didn’t actually have any cars available when we went to check in. We booked through Priceline so it was unfortunate and with limited inventory just bad timing. The location is challenging to get to/park and wasn’t anything special.Dee, however was fantastic! She nicely chased us down outside after we left, once something showed in the system (after telling us we’d have to come back in the afternoon when more cars became available). She then worked her magic adjusting dates to get us the best deal. We ended up with a nicer car than originally planned. Her customer service was outstanding! Give that woman a raise! We’d be back because of her

If I could give a 0 star review I would. The TLDR is they left us without a car overnight and charged us more than the original 5 day reservation even though we only had the car for one night.It was prepaid through a 3rd party ($365). We drove it for 20 minutes and parked it in a garage. The next day it's beeping, saying oil issues, and is low on oil. Customer service alternately said it'll be 4-6 hours to get a tow or that they're going to drive to Douglas Airport NC to pick up a new car (this is at 5pm on a Friday). They had no solution for the fact that left us high and dry past midnight with no car. The tow driver kept saying they had cars at the Charleston Airport but needed authorization to release it. He also said he would not have driven NC that night and would've gone in the morning. Multiple calls to customer service only made things worse. Eventually (8pm) we just had them tow the car, we stayed with friends and then the next day got a car from another rental when the Avis counter wouldn't confirm if they had the car that was towed. Customer service two days later said they would refund us on the card. Instead they charged us an extra $25. Worst service ever.

Was supposed to open at 8am. Opened 5 min after and she hadn't even turned on the computers. Wasn't the best demeanor in the morning and took a long time even though there was a line of 4 people. When we got in our car, the tank wasn't even full. Disappointed overall in our experience.

I’d give a zero if I could. This lady , Ms. Rude, who works on Saturday at the Meeting St location is so rude. We had a death in the family this morning and were 30 minutes late returning the car. The papers say fill the gas tank, no trash, no pet hair, no smoking and no personal belongings. There were none. She said I needed to take the car to a car wash or they were charging a 450 cleaning fee. She also charged a full extra day. At this point, it’s 1:30pm. They close at 2. The guy cleaning cars out back offers to clean the car… says it’s his job. I asked if I could pay him. He said no it’s my job. He starts cleaning the car… washing the outside. Ms Rude comes running out screaming she has to take it somewhere to clean it! At this point, it’s 1:41pm. The closest car wash is over 2 miles away. This is downtown Charleston. Not gonna happen. She drags Maine inside (poor guy). I decide the only way I’m going to make it by 2pm is to use their vac so that’s what I did. Seems as though she just wanted to see me sweat because she didn’t charge the cleaning fee. I returned the key and she’s purely rude. I don’t recommend Avis Meeting Street for anything. I hope Maine finds a better employer too because he’s super nice, professional and a customer service asset.

Very disappointed after being charged for a 2 full days rental when I drop the car off. I pick the car up at 2:30 PM and dropped it off the next day at 4:30 PM and was charged a ridiculous amount of money. I did not realize it until I was on the plane and looked at my receipt. As a medallion member, I am less than satisfied, and will be looking elsewhere for my next car rental.

Booked and paid for my car online, only to learn upon arrival that there is no car for me. The agent at the desk offers no apology and won't even look away from her computer while talking to me, all the while acting like this is somehow my fault.And how is it my responsibility to call Avis and request a refund? That's a terrible system.I ended up switching the reservation to a different location, and now I'm spending another hour and $20 to Uber there.Avis is so bad. It doesn't need to work like this. Enterprise would never do this.

Booked and paid in advance. The day before pick up was called and told they have no cars. Was then told they could not refund me and told to call Avis (no number provided). After 20min of taking to a robot finally got a human and managed to cancel with no apologies given. First and last (attempted) rental with Avis.

Unfortunately Avis/budget whatever you want to call it have the worst customer service. The front desk lady is rude and basically just says call customer service for any issue. Not sure what her job is there but PLEASE DO NOT RENT HERE! Save the hassle and go to ENTERPRISE where they treat people with respect.

Wouldn't wanna say I felt uncomfortable as young black woman walking in but... Made a reservation online, came in to fill the reservation and did not leave with a car. Disappointing. First time using Avis

Truly Exceptional service!This Avis has provided 5-atar service to many of my residents and families as well as myself. Gary has a some of the most professional employees around. Dee gives service like no other! they were able to accommodate my residents last minute and in a pinch! Thank you all so much!

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING experience with Dee. We had a couple of problems with our reservation and Dee went above and beyond to solve our problems and provide us the best solutions. So grateful she was there and help us start my trip in the best way possible.
