About Historic Charleston Foundation
Historic Charleston Foundation, est. 1947, is a preservation advocacy non-profit organization that works toward its mission: To advocate for a future for Charleston that honors and protects its people, places, culture and community. For more than 75 years, the Foundation has worked to establish and continue preservation initiatives and to lead by example through advocacy, stewardship, and community engagement. In addition, the Foundation is the steward of two historic house museums, the Aiken-Rhett House, c.1820, and the Nathaniel Russell House, c.1808. In addition, the Foundation presents two major fundraising events each year: The Charleston Festival and Charleston by Design.
