Went to this PNC Bank location on 11/17/23 to cash a check from a client that was written on a PNC Bank checking account. The check had already bounced once when submitted through my bank. The PNC Bank CSR rep at the front door stated that in order to cash the check I would have to pay a 2% fee because I don't have a PNC account. I appealed to a Manager who stated the same thing and said this is a common business practice for banks in Charleston. I agreed to pay the fee and was directed to the teller, LeAnn, and subsequently presented the check and two forms of government issued ID. LeAnn checked the PNC account and stated that the check maker (her words) hadn't "uploaded the check for payment" when it was originally written on 10/10/23 so she couldn't cash it. I asked if the check had a bank routing number, checking account number and check number and LeAnn stated it did; she then restated that the check maker hadn't "uploaded the check for payment". I stated this made no sense. I then asked if the PNC account had sufficient funds to make the payment. LeAnn stated that it is PNC Bank policy to not reveal if there are sufficient funds. I then stated that that i am presenting a valid check with all required data embossed on it and presenting two forms of ID, yet PNC Bank is withholding payment because the check maker has essentially failed to do some type of internal authentication for payment. LeAnn stated I would have to get another check from the check maker. I stated this, too, makes no sense since the check maker could once again fail to do whatever magic that needs to happen behind the scenes to make the check authorized for payment by PNC Bank. I left without being able to cash the check. In summary, I don't recommend banking with PNC Bank due to their convoluted business practices. To prevent a recurrence, we will simply no longer accept any check written on a PNC Bank account.

PNC is not qualified to be in the banking business.I have five mortgages and have been trying to get together with them about the payments and they are very, very difficult.

I've been using PNC since I moved here, but after they shut down the Mt. P branch, I've had to use the downtown branch. The Mt. P branch was always helpful and provided excellent customer service every time I walked through the door. However, this branch does the opposite. This is not the issue though: the executive decision making at the corporate level seems to be the issue. Why would you let a completely understaffed branch become the only branch in a metropolitan area? This increases pressure to perform on this single branch, who clearly cannot handle it because they are severely understaffed. The times I've been in there, the manager profusely apologizes, explaining they are understaffed and only has two employees. She always looks like she's in a frenzy. Wait times have been long and has often led me to leave, as I want to stop in quick and deposit my cash tips or checks. The manager even told me one day to stop coming in to deposit my checks and use the ATM. Okay? Even when they hire people, I'm sure they cannot train them properly, as my experience today leads me to believe, on how to demonstrate great customer service, going above and beyond for guests and properly assisting them. The clerk was apathetic and not helpful, and to be honest, if I was in her shoes, assuming she is new, I probably would be too.I explained to her that I am leaving the country and asked her to put a note on my account. She told me she couldn't do in advance, and I had to call back closer to the day of departure, which is incorrect. I've called PNC several times in the past few years before I travel - months in advance - about a trip. I have never been turned away until I've interacted with this branch. I also asked to be issued a new debit card because my DC expires while I am out of the country, and she also told me, "no, I have to come in," which is also not true, given I've had cards shipped to me in the past.I am not sure if the woman was told to turn away guests because of the high-volume and short staff or if she is not properly trained on customer service, but I did not feel satisfied with the service I received, and I personally don't blame her and understand where she's coming from. I wouldn't need to contact this branch if the customer service number didn't automatically hang up on me every it reaches the forty-five minute mark. I'm disappointed because I enjoyed using PNC, or at least going to the Mt P. branch, but I just think this experience with this branch puts the nail in the coffin. It's time for me to look elsewhere.

I opened a PNC account while resolving some fraudulent activity with my credit union account. Unfortunately, I had to leave to Charleston, for work, before receiving my debit card in the mail; this left me with no availability to my funds, which could have been a big headache, to say the least. But, Yarelis was able to provide me with some much needed funds from my account in a matter of minutes. Thanks, Yarelis! I know it took me awhile to get this review up and show my appreciation, but I never forgot about the great job you did for me that day. You are an asset to PNC, and we definitely appreciate you! ????? experience all the way, from the teller that initially assisted me and then to Yarelis' office. Thanks!

PNC offers notary services. But as per the manager here it's only for PNC documents. I wish I knew that before driving downtown.

So we have an investment account with Vanguard who disperses through PNC - we don't choose the bank. We just moved to the area and don't have a local bank. We took a dispersement check in to cash and get a cashier's check to pay the movers and it's a 10% fee to cash the check or we can open an account with them and they will hold the check for a day and we can't get our household goods today. They also want an exorbitant amount to get a cashier's check again we have a large sum investment account with Vanguard that is held in their bank but that doesn't count as an account with them.
