“After three nights at The Spectator Hotel, I can confidently say this is our favorite hotel we've stayed at in any US city, and we will absolutely be coming back!

Our butlers David and Jim were fantastic, genuinely attentive and went above and beyond for anything we needed. The valets James and Tyler were great too. When our room wasn't ready, they stored our bags without a second thought and gave us some amazing BBQ recommendations while we waited. Such a nice touch!

The location is spot on. It's on a quiet block but still walking distance to King Street, so you get easy access to everything without the noise.

If you're visiting Charleston, just stay here. The hospitality is the real deal.”

“Lovely tour and worth the visit. Ellen The tour guide was knowledgeable, friendly and kept us all entertained throughout the tour. It lasts about 45 minutes.

The gift shop has lots to choose from and the factory tour is an interesting process to see. Advanced tickets for trolley tour highly recommended !”

“Let's talk fantastic! This is a small theatre and there really isn't a bad seat in the place. The 25 to 26 year we have seen four productions and each one of them has been fabulous! There is an easy garage to park at with a short walk up Church street. The staff working at the theatre are all lovely and helpful. The seats are comfortable. But the productions! Amazing. We just saw Spelling Bee and every cast member knocked it out of the park. Singing was amazing, acting was fantastic, and the laughs we had. It was just a great time. I would highly recommend if you can see a show there to go!!!”

“Thomas Bennett House provided the wedding venue of our dreams. Kathy and team at Thomas Bennett were such a pleasure to work with throughout the planning process and during our big day. Most critically, the venue is just absolutely stunning. Like seriously. The combination of the immaculately kept, secluded outdoor garden space for both our ceremony and reception, along with a indoor mansion/outdoor porch scene for cocktail hour, was the ideal set up for our big day. We will never forgot our wedding at Thomas Bennett, and from countless conversations with our friends and family since, neither will they!”

“The William Aiken House was the perfect venue for our daughter’s wedding. The historic home and stunning grounds created a truly breathtaking setting, and the ability to use both indoor and outdoor spaces was ideal. Although we had our own planner, the planning staff at WAH was exceptionally communicative and professional.

And then there is the food and service—simply out of this world. I have attended many weddings over the years, and I can honestly say I have never experienced better food at a wedding. You typically attend weddings expecting the dinner to be “just okay.” Not here. Every single bite was exceptional, beautifully presented, and absolutely delicious. The service was equally remarkable—professional, gracious, attentive, and flawless from start to finish.

“Our September wedding at Old Wide Awake exceeded our expectations!!! The property offers multiple distinct spaces for the ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner, and dancing, with the historic home and beautifully landscaped grounds as the backdrop.

Margaret was wonderful to work with from the start. She accommodated multiple site visits after booking and follow up locations to plan layouts and logistics with ease. Partnering with Cru as the owner/bar manager and preferred food service vendor added tremendous value; their communication (shoutout to Sabine and Reilly) and execution were seamless.

The venue’s all-day access from 9 AM to 10 PM is a standout feature compared to many Charleston options that limit time or charge extra. While located about 30 minutes outside downtown, we easily accommodated guests with a downtown room block and shuttle service, and others enjoyed Airbnb stays in Seabrook and West Ashley. That way our guests could enjoy downtown Charleston as well. About 90% of our guest list traveled from out of town.

Finally, the bridal suite is stunning and provided the perfect setting for getting ready and photos. This venue is truly a rare gem for couples seeking flexibility, beauty, and exceptional service.”

“We also had such a great experience with the catering at Patriots Point Golf Course through Good Food Catering. The food on our wedding day was incredible, and so many of our guests told us it was the best wedding food they’ve ever had. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented, which made the entire experience feel even more special.

Anna was so kind and informative when walking us through all of the catering options. She made the process easy and helped us choose what would work best for our vision and our guests. We decided on a scoop-your-own buffet (non-chef attended), which allowed everyone to get as much as they wanted, and it worked phenomenally well. It kept the line moving and made guests feel comfortable going back for seconds.

The bar service was also amazing. The staff was friendly, efficient, and kept everything running smoothly all night. We brought our own cups, and they had no problem using them, which was such a nice and accommodating touch. Overall, we couldn’t have been happier and would absolutely recommend their catering and bar services to anyone!”

“An upscale hotel in the heart of Charleston. Lots of eateries, shopping, and local artisan jems within walking distance. The city offers free transportation, and due to the congestion at times, I would recommend taking advantage of it. The hotel has some historical architecture, but the rooms are very modern. The rooms offer blackout curtains, a separate water closet, complete with bidet! Oh, and did I mention we had our own private balcony overlooking the courtyard. The courtyard is inviting and a great place for a late evening beverage. I jane read reviews with complaints about the required valet parking, but as busy as it is, I would say it is worth the money.”

“Hosted the Carolopolis Awards for the Preservation Society of Charleston. The whole team is wonderful to work with. The space is beautifully redone, a lot of capabilities for a variety of events. The food and bar are delicious and we had a very positive experience. Would recommend for any event.”

“We booked The Warren Room for our wedding rehearsal dinner on 10/11/24 and had a fantastic experience! Michael was so great to work with getting all of the details and menu items figured out ahead of time. We are locals and absolutely love the food at Stella's and were so pleased with how everything turned out. Great food, excellent service, and the space + balcony was just so beautiful! It’s a great rental space and ample free parking on premises . I would suggest turning on the approximate street instead of on the main road as it bottle necks”

“For families staying in the nearby villas, The Sandcastle is a beautiful area for portrait sessions such as families, high-school seniors, engagement photos on Kiawah Island. There are tons of great backdrops offering a wide variety of images. The beach and access points are also really picturesque. As a full-time professional photographer, I highly recommend this area!”

“I couldn't be happier that we chose this hotel for our first visit to Charleston. Our room was perfect and the hotel was quiet. I love that The Rise Coffee Bar is attached. The daily breakfast basket was a treat even when we went out for breakfast. Having some fruit or a breakfast pastry to start the day off was great. I asked for extra popcorn and Coca-Cola, and both were expeditiously provided. We requested rides to the aquarium and African American Museum on different days, and Matthew, the guest experience manager, was gracious in driving us to our destinations at the exact times we were hoping for. The location of the hotel - right off King Street - was so perfect. We averaged about 12k steps per day exploring the shops, historic landmarks, museums and restaurants. The bathtub in our room was perfectly slanted. I would love to come back to this hotel!”

“Spacious king rooms but only 2 drawers for clothes in the bedroom, only one towel rack and one hook in the huge bathroom! All designed for one person. Curious. Only bedroom window looks down on interior gallery. Fortunately the front desk assures us the glass is one way so visitors to the gallery not staring into our room.
Love the location. Staff is friendly. Amenities such as the bars and rooftop dining room are lovely.
Just recommend better accommodation in the bedrooms.”

“We had such a wonderful stay at this hotel in Folly Beach! From the moment we arrived, everyone made us feel welcome, but two people truly made our trip unforgettable.

Rhino is hands down the best bartender! Not only does he make fantastic drinks, but he’s friendly, funny, and genuinely enjoys getting to know the guests. Every visit to the bar felt like catching up with an old friend.

Jay also deserves a huge shoutout. He made our family feel right at home from day one. The sweetest part was how he always had a little surprise or gift for our son every time they crossed paths. Those thoughtful gestures meant so much and made our son’s vacation even more special.

“I want to thank my looooong lost cousins TYRESE and AMURA JOHNSON along with the cleaning staff for making an old broke down teacher's week-long stay oh so comfortable! After spending an entire school year picking up and cleaning after high schoolers, it was so nice to return to a clean and quiet room. They even took care of my travel companion, FRANK (as pictured).
