“I was scared to death when I read all these reviews. You have to know how to deal with them.
I had been with WF for nearly 15 years, and my loan was sold to ShellPoint. Honestly, I was pretty upset. Not only was my loan sold, but I had also just lost my job. I went through a qualification process to get approved for a loan forebarance. There was a miscommunication on that part, as I had never had one before. One agent told me they would tack it on at the end of the loan. That was not the case, and I found out the hard way when I had to come up with 7k after forebarance was over. Live and learn.
Read and save every piece of mail you get. It's your job to keep up with them. They held their end of the deal all the way through, and I was very skeptical. Because they bought my loan, the original loan terms are still in effect... Just as if I were still with WF. The paperwork process was easy and legit.
The website is a little wonky. No issues though. I pay on time. They call me 2 days before to remind me, if I do forget. You will get multiple agents assigned to your case. Just deal with it. The agent didn't always return calls, and voice mails were full. Keep calling them if you need to. Their primary form of communication is mail. Read your mail!!!!
All in all, just do your part. I thought it was a whole lot worse than what it turned out to be, especially after ready pages of horrible reviews. I'm sure all circumstances are different. Loan modifications may be a different story, but keep very detailed notes of who you talk to and dates.
Update as of 12/12/2025: They even call you every month when your payment due date approaches. I still have no complaints.”
