Sat in line for almost an hour, there was only one register open the entire time, while there were several employees literally standing by the door not doing anything.

I went here Sunday afternoon because it was on my way for some errands. My intention was to visit the range but while I was there I checked out the full store. Store has a massive fishing section, a ton of apparel for both fishing and hunting, and a very complete selection of firearms, gun parts, ammunition, etc. As you expect from PSA, prices are rock bottom in the store. The range was nearly identical to the one in Columbia which I have been to many times. Clean and well-maintained, and a separate rifle and pistol area (much appreciated!). Carrier systems were easy to use. I was in the mood to try something different and they had an H9 for rent even though it's so new that the website for it says "coming soon" still! (Yes, I rented it.) Prices on range time, targets, rental and range ammo were are very reasonable. The staff member I interacted with was friendly and knowledgeable. So how did all of these positives end up at only a 4 star rating? This range, like the PSA range in Columbia, has a ventilation system that is super aggressive, and the targets hang from the carrier with no backing. As a result, the targets actually blow around a little bit. We can make some points that perhaps this is going to be helpful to train against a slightly moving target, but at an indoor range it's my expectation that the targets be very still, and here they just aren't. If PSA either tones down the ventilation or can keep the wind levels in the lanes to a low enough level that the targets don't move, or just provide cardboard backers (like C&S in North Charleston does), this would be a big help. The other issue I had was that there is no hand washing station near the range. At best you can hike to the other side of the store to get to the bathroom to wash up after shooting. It's a bit annoying. I'm not sure how much plumbing they want to run to solve this minor issue, though again, C&S compared very favorably here. J.Ja

This is a large full-service facility. PSA has an excellent selection of arms and ammunition. They also have a great selection of fishing rods, reels and accessories and a very nice archery department. There are pistol, rifle and archery ranges, indoor and well maintained. I have purchased handguns and taken classes at the Summerville location.

I went to this location to purchase a lower receiver for a kit that I bought online. They refused to sell it to me because I had my 18 yr old son who wanted to come with me just to look around. I then decided to go to the West Ashley location, waited for them to run my background just for them to come back and tell me the Summerville store had called them to let them know not to sell it to me. I’ve bought 2 firearms from here in the last few years and I will never do business with them again.

This is a great place for all of your weapons needs. I took my CWP class and purchased a new handgun. Both very reasonable priced.

I had A LOT of reservations about coming here and about guns in general, but my oldest son and fiancé talked me into checking it out with them. They had come a couple weeks prior to shoot their guns at the range and were ready to come back. We came back on this particular weekend and made our way to the back of the store. My son and his GF were planning to go to the range. My fiancé was planning to purchase a new firearm. After being helped and asking a lot of questions, which, by the way, were met with what seemed to me as so a very competent sales person, we went to the cash register to pay for everything we picked up. We actually bought more stuff before we left so we got to talk to both cashiers before we left and they were both efficient and friendly. After paying for everything the first time, we went to the range with the new gun. We did come in with another gun from home and both guns were brought into the range. This was my first time shooting a gun in a range and I felt very safe in the environment we were in. Everyone else in the range was very respectful of each other which was helpful in us feeling safe. We had a great time and we will be back for sure. The prices were more than I thought they'd be, but I don't know how firearms and bullets are supposed to be priced. From what my son and fiancé have told me, it sounds like the prices are reasonable and make sense. I'll take their word for it as they are more of an expert than I am, but I do know that I will be coming back because I want to learn more about gun safety and feel comfortable shooting a firearm especially if there ever comes a time I may ever have shoot one to protect myself or anyone else.

Went there when they were super busy Black Friday weekend. Everyone was great. Jon helped out find the merchandise for my wife and apologized for having so many other customers. It's fine. I came knowing what I was getting myself into. Pew pew, here we go.

We drove an hour to buy a pistol at the online sale price. My husband had the information pulled up on his phone. The guy behind the gun counter went to the back and brought it out. 1 1/2 hours later after all the paperwork, we were checking out and found out it was not the pistol we showed him that was on sale. They wouldnt sale us the gun that was now in his name that basically the same description, looked the same- it was a higher price. This was his Christmas present. We will never go back. So disappointed and were trying to buy local.

Good pricing. great selection but most of all, friendly staff that are patient with new gun owners. They were willing to spend plenty of time to guide my wife through her first purchase and she felt confident walking out the door. The indoor range is very nice with modern target stalls and equipment. We will be back for future purchases as well as for range time!

I bought a Columbia jacket from PSA Summerville a few days ago and went in to return it today because I found something I liked better somewhere else. I had the receipt and the jacket was in the same condition it was in when I bought it. However, because I had removed the tags, they refused to take it back. I paid $85 for that jacket, so to be refused any kind of refund for it just because I took the tags off is highly frustrating. This store was my go-to for fishing/outdoor apparel, but now I will be taking my business elsewhere.

Phenomenal range staff, gun sales staff are all super helpful and fun to talk to. Clean and professional range. Fishing department has some very helpful people as well. The only complaint I have is I wish palmetto state armory had a rewards system. 5/5 stars overall!

Let me start off with the good. They have a HUGE selection of firearms and outdoor equipment and supplies. Unfortunately that's all I can say good about this location. I'm sure my bad experience is in part due to the massive labor shortage affecting all public-facing businesses, but I was literally ignored and never helped during my most recent visit to the Summerville PSA. I waited for nearly 30 minutes at the firearms counter for someone to help me choose a firearm and was never helped. Eventually I just left. There was no sense of urgency at all with any employee that I saw, and I guess they do so much business that they don't care if they lose me as a customer. Must be a nice place to be as a company.

I typically shop at the Columbia location but I was in Summerville and wanted to stop by this PSA for an Upper AR group. For whatever reason they had the full ARs and their lower groups on the right side of the store and the upper groups on the left side near the hunting rifles. I checked the entire right side first before asking and the clerk behind the counter. He acted as if I asked a dumb question and seemed annoyed. But the organization did not make sense. After I picked an upper group, I asked a different clerk for the box to check out, he went and got the box, then whispered to the cashier when he dropped it off. I don’t know what was said but I found it rude. I’ll be sticking to the Columbia location for now on. Overall, just not welcoming.

September 12, 2023 I went into Palmetto State Armory. I was greeted instantly.. walked to where there gun counter was and again was greeted by a employee "asking if I need help finding anything?" I said and yes told him the model I was looking for and he lead me straight to it.. Him and I chatted for a min then he walked to back to locate the brand and model within couple min he returned with it in the box. The employee was very knowledgeable and helpful made the process as easy and as fast as the process can go.. was personal but, very professionally though. I value and continue to shop your store as long as I keep getting that service..

Pat on the register was amazing. The gentleman who helped me was good, but with 10 hands in the back to help it's easy to be good.Pat was alone upfront with a smile, a great attitude and made me want to come back. It be nice to see more people scheduled to help out in the front tho.As I stand in the front watching 1 worker handle a line a 17 customers while coworkers pick on her was not okay.Palmetto fix that.Pat, keep crushing it I'm coming back for you
