Heartland Veterinary Clinic
933 West Hwy 14, BrookingsNeeded a vet for an unexpected sick pup on a recent hunting trip. Heartland was able to get me in on short notice. I felt we received excellent care from Dr. Fedeler and his staff. Thorough examination, a few tests and some medications and we were back to our hunting trip (she did get the day off though) . Dr Fedeler took his time and answered all my questions. I would definitely recommend. Many thanks to Dr Fedeler and all his staff at Heartland.

420 12th St S, BrookingsI’m college student so when trying to find the right vet I was looking for a place that was knowledgable, caring, and not so expensive that I would have to get a second job to pay a vet bill. I have had 3 dogs and taken them all to different animal clinics around Brookings and they have charged my around $100-$220 for normal visits each time. I thought this was normal until I tried Dr. Woody and he was the most honest vet I have witnessed. He is very smart in his craft and is in it for the sake of helping animals rather than collecting money. There is no other place that I would trust more than the Brookings Animal Clinic. For the sake of your animals life and your wallets life go to Dr. Woody.

On this visit, I had a flight of the Peanut Butter Savant, Third Stall Stout, Boiz to the Yard: Skittles and Triple Dawg Dare. All of the beers were great. The peanut butter amber was surprisingly good and I took a crowler of it home for my wife. I also purchased a crowler of the Double Bum as it was not currently on draft.

Zesto Drive In
1010 22nd Ave S, BrookingsI enjoy coming here often, and I think the menu choices are a good part of why. (actually, between everything shown on the cycling displays, I wish I had a physical menu to take my time looking at; it’s hard to remember what avalanche flavors I’ve tried already, OK?)
I do miss the more cozy feel of the previous location further north many years ago, but I appreciate the very functional layout they have now.
Also, those big condiment cups, they make a big difference when you have a lot of fries.
If I had a huge spreadsheet that listed every local locations ice cream prices within the last 20 years, I could probably give a more definitive answer on their “value“, but let’s say they likely don’t beat Dairy Queen, and they don’t have to. They maybe have better value than other high-end places that serve ice-cream, and they should keep that in mind.
Overall, while you don’t have to come every day, support your local economy by visiting licensed-independents like Zesto! (I can’t think of a better name for the business model they have, not a franchise but not unique)

They were so available to communicate with about questions & concerns They recommended an older companion cat...so we are keeping our eyes open!
