The Ramkota Hotel in Pierre is a clean, well-maintained, and recently renovated hotel with a convenient location right next to the river. The beautifully remodeled property features a great pool area, including a large jacuzzi, a deep pool, and a separate little kid pool that is perfect for families. The poolside rooms are not bothered by humidity or sound from the pool area. Guests find the staff to be very friendly, attentive, and helpful upon checking in. The complimentary continental breakfast is frequently described as outstanding and fully stocked with a wide variety of options, including eggs, sausage, pancakes, waffles, cereal, pastries, and many fruit choices. The hotel also has a bar with great wait staff. The hotel is laid out the way older properties used to be, with a long walk from the lobby to some rooms. Some guests note the beds are okay but not great, with blankets rather than a comforter and no variety of pillows. The A/C unit can be too loud for some to leave on overnight. A common mention is the nearby train tracks, with noise from wheels screeching at various hours, though this is outside the hotel's control. Overall, it provides a convenient and memorable stay for visitors, including those traveling with boats or pets.
Old hotel with some updating done in recent years but still a lot to be done. I just raised my rating to four stars. They have made some very extensive updates. It's still not great, but a marked improvement.

Being woke up at midnight by a dead battery in our smoke detector was nice. The fix for it was even better, (just completely removing it from the room vs adding a new battery). So if anything did happen with a fire we would have possibly had some issues.
